Ren. Open. Hospital Wing.chainedlotusSeptember 6 2010, 05:58:01 UTC
In retrospect, it wasn't that long since the fighting started but, when in the middle of it, each day seemed to drag on forever. All the panic and pain that was delivered only really happened in a few measly hours and now it was done and over with as the last inferi fell and Ultimecia was defeated.
Now he had something else to worry about. Catty told him to stay out of trouble and now she was going to see him in a hospital bed.
Admittedly, the leg had been fixed now thanks to a few strong healing spells and he was just advised to stay off it for the rest of the day. It still didn't help that he got himself caught up in it and have it broken in the first place which was what Catty was going to be upset with him about.
Maybe his fellow recovering students could distract him from the impending lecture he was going to get.
If anyone was deserving of a lecture, it was Squall... who was currently sort of limping into the hospital wing, albeit reluctantly. He looked like hell, long cuts and gashes on his arms and legs, a large bruise on his face, robes cut up and mangled, and his gunblade was caked with blood. Well... at least he had been missing during the whole event for a reason, right?
He made his way over to the bed beside Ren, leaning his weapon against the nightstand, and half fell onto the bed without a word. There was a moment while he shifted around, comfortably leaning up against the headboard, before he finally fell still, waiting for a nurse to get to him.
"...hey," he said after a moment, not looking at Ren.
As his roommate came by to flop down on the bed next to him, Ren glanced up but didn’t say anything. He knew Squall wasn’t much for conversations and, right now might not be the best time to start one.
Or he thought that up until the point Squall started talking to him and Ren had to wonder if he take one too many hits to the head during the invasion.
"Hn..." came the reply, and for a moment, it looked like that was all Squall was going to say. Finally, he sighed, before continuing, "...I was keeping the inferi from getting into the forest."
That at least explained the twig that was sticking out of his hair oddly.
Good thing he did speak up or Ren would have thought everything was back to normal between the two. "Huh, guess I should thank you for that," Ren grinned slightly. He was in the forest for a bit getting some dangerous plant life and it was helpful that there were no inferi in the forest.
He only had to deal with the other hundred or so dangerous creatures that lived in there.
"You think so?" Ren glanced down at his leg, propped up and bandaged. He wasn't sure how the rest of him looked but, that probably was the thing standing out the most. "It's fine. Nursed fixed it but, told me to stay around for some rest."
Squall nodded, turning back and settling on the bed awkwardly. Well... hm... this was probably the longest conversation he had ever had while not under some strange spell.
It likely was. But, Ren was his roommate and probably the only one who counted as the sane one so, he'd be probably the best person Squall could talk to. Mostly because they room with Natsu and Gray who spend most of their day trying to attack each other.
"From the inferi? Likely not." Those two did know how to fight and Natsu in particular was good at fire spells which was what they were suggested to use to fight the inferi. "Can't guarantee they're not beating each other up."
Now this was a strange role reversal in itself, as Catty slid a chair up--loudly, at that--next to Ren's bed, sitting down as she looked him over in irritation. She looked dead on her feet, a light smattering of bruises and cuts covering her arms, and for the moment, she was glad he couldn't see how awful her legs looked from all the rough and tumble of the previous days. Mostly though, it was just how drained she looked, having tapped into her time magic a little too much.
There was silence as she sat there and stared.
A lot of it.
Until she finally huffed out a loud breath, jabbing her finger in the air towards his leg.

"And that's why I told you to leave Hogwarts!"
