"Assume the worst, hope for the best, and plan for every contingency in between," she agreed. "I'm not being needlessly optimistic, Sam. I do know from experience that visions can be capricious things that don't always mean exactly what they appear to. And even if they are...it is sometimes possible to work with them, rather than against them." She leaned across her desk and clasped his hand in her own, much smaller ones. Unlike many women in high society, they were scarred and calloused from years of hard work. "I can promise you this, Sam. I am hardly about to lay down and let the future have its way. If nothing else, I know that, should I find myself in a corridor alone, after healing myself, use a better fire spell."

She withdrew her head and nodded. "Oh, there may be something we can do about that," Leia said, easily enough. "Would you mind if I told Cid about this, Sam? I can keep your name out of it, if you would prefer, but I do believe he should be warned about the possibility of an attack on the school - if nothing else, it wouldn't hurt to tighten the wards a little."

After a long moment, he nodded. Sam was still not going to be okay with this anytime soon, but the fact that Leia was taking this seriously helped a lot. He squeezed her hand, hoping to find some reassurance rather than give some. "You sound like..." ... Actually, nevermind. There was no need to delve into that right now.

He cleared his throat and pushed on, as if that last fragment had never been spoken. "Right. Well. I'd rather you avoided that corridor entirely for the time being, but we just have to find it first." Maybe there would be another clue there. He winced at the suggestion of Cid, because it was possible the Headmaster might know a lot more about the properties of unicorn blood than he should, and shortly would be able to put the clues together. "Yes, I think the Headmaster should know, but-- uh. I'd rather he didn't know that it was my vision that triggered it."

He squeezed her hand, and she gave him what reassurance she could, through the contact and through the Force. Had he finished his sentence, she would have commented, but for the moment he appeared as if it wasn't something he wished to speak on. Leia could certainly respect that.

Her lips twitched up into a faint smile. "The unfortunate consequence of warning a fellow staff member. I've always preferred to have a hand in my own rescues." She tilted her head to the side slightly, before slowly inclining it in agreement. "I see. Well, it's a simple enough thing to keep your name out of it. Cid and I are old friends; he trusts my judgement. If nothing else, a few precautions around the castle would be useful, and he's the one who can best authorise and organise those."

He was grateful she didn't push it, because honestly he could hardly figure out his own feelings right then, let alone be able to put them into words.

Sighing softly, he nodded. "Yeah. The Headmaster can do a lot more than we can. It'd be much better if the staff was alerted to a ... general warning that something might be coming, too." He didn't want to cause a panic, but it couldn't hurt to be prepared. Cid would be able to pull everyone together in time for whatever this might be.

Many failings Leia had, but tact was something she possessed in spades. That wasn't to say she was going to avoid bringing up several of the things that had been mentioned in this discussion, however. Simply that she was saving them for another day when she was not in immediate danger of being eaten.

"I'll let him know, then. If nothing else, this has the...oddness I've felt through the Force making a lot more sense. I may have to contact my brother and the other Masters, and see if they've felt anything unusual as well. If nothing else, as a group we should be able to sense when whatever these things are coming, if not what."

He was blissfully unaware of her desire to bring these things up ever again, so for the time being, he was rather content.

He simply nods, leaning back in his chair. "I'll go with you. I'd like to know if he knows of anything that might have gotten into the castle. And hear what he has to say about this so far." A pause. "An... oddness?" The Force and the people that used it still perplexed him-- he had very little idea of what the "Force" really was. Sometimes it seemed like their God, and sometimes it seemed like an indistinct blob of emotional feeling that gave the Jedi the occasional vague and unhelpful insight.
