The young witch was generally a quiet person anyway. She would be no trouble to Uncle and would likely only speak if addressed. It wasn't that she didn't like talking, but she was much more of the "listening" persuasion. Uncle had done a great deal of work on his own and in a way, Setsuna felt bad adding to it. Still, someone had to repair the antiques, so why not people who actually liked them.

"Very well. I'll set these pieces here." She made sure the pieces were kept separate, not wanting them to get mixed up with other works of art. She then moved over to the pot Uncle had indicated. Setsuna carefully took out her traditional wand, quietly muttering the repairing magic required to accurately fix the vase. The cracks started the mend themselves, creating a whole vase once more. She made note of Uncle's own rather unorthodox methods of magic use. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen a pufferfish used in quite that fashion...let alone in tandem with a lizard. It was often amazing to her how one could never fully know all there was to know about magic. She still had a lot to learn.

Unorthodox in this place maybe but, ancient Chinese spells did not have their wands to cast spells. Puffer fish was best weapon again forces of dark chi magic. Unfortunately, it had it disadvantages of using one spell at a time and Uncle was using it to arrange the broken pieces in the right order. Dried lizard in hand, Uncle started chanting an incantation. The broken shards moving to rearrange themselves into this tall vase, fitting perfectly into its proper shape.

However Chi magic had its limits of one spell at a time. That’s why it was good for young Setsuna to be there. Uncle could fit the shards together properly while she mends the cracks. And soon she could start working on this one except,

“AIEYAAH!” Uncle shouted, “There is a piece missing!” Sure enough, a decent sized hole was still gaping out the side of the vase.

Setsuna jumped a little at Uncle's cry and turned to see what the problem was. She frowned slightly at the hole where a piece of pottery should be and wondered how they might solve this particular dilemma. "It might have been swept up or away some where. Perhaps I could try modifying an accio spell to bring the piece to us." It seemed logical, given the fact that they had the whole piece of work here and she could tune in to that form in order to summon the missing piece.

Of course, there was also the option of transfiguring something into that shape, but Setsuna had a feeling Uncle wouldn't want a substitute.

Uncle would not have a substitute. Defeats the integrity of good antique care.

The old man hauled another cast iron pot next to the first one, opened a nearby closet and began throwing various ingredients into it till it mixed and bubbled. Uncles spell method was based on personal intuition that was influenced by the recipes in his book. He had the basic ingredients of a location spell memorized so he threw handfuls of dried leaves and emptied bottles one after the other at a rapid pace. Finally, he ran his finger over the unfinished pot, picking up some dust and sprinkled it into the potion. Picking up his dried lizard, he dunked it into the potion till it glowed a faint green colour.

“Lizard tells us that piece is this way!” he ordered as he started walking into the hallway, glowing lizard in his hand leading the way.

Setsuna watched with curiosity as Uncle went to work. She didn't know what he was doing but she had a feeling it had something to do with the missing piece of the pot. Setsuna made sure not to hover, but his spell work was very fascinating to her. She could tell right away that this was very ancient based magic and certainly based more in the Far East than anything western.

He worked with surprising efficiency. Setsuna was impressed and when he was ready to head out she followed him, not wanting to leave all the work to him. "Your spell work is very interesting, Uncle," she remarked as they set off.

From the ingredients to the spell books written in old Chinese, Uncle had considerably lacked any of the known ingredients that were taught in their potions class in exchange for his own. And some were really just household items you find in a kitchen like ginger root and soy protein. It was complicated and it took years to learn properly but, Uncle was best at what Uncle does.

“Hotchaa. Lizard just has standard locator spell. You would know that if you had took Uncle’s class when you were a student,” The old man scolded as he followed the reptile based on the strength of the green glow. It was sad what young ones these days chose not to learn. Something new was taught and yet, they went with the short cuts. Kids these day.

Setsuna took the scolding in stride. Smiling in an embarrassed fashion, "Yes, I suppose I should have tried to fit it into my schedule." Still, as far as Setsuna was concerned it was never too late to learn something new. She would have to make some time later to read up on this type of spell casting.

"I don't suppose you could lend me some books to make up for that fact?"

“If you want to read from Uncles collection, you will stay here and read them. Books do not leave Uncles classroom!” He wasn’t going to let his precious tomes be lent out to other people so carelessly. They have to stay in his shop. That’s why he had a research desk with a lamp in his class so someone could come in and read as they please.

The spell started growing brighter and Uncle adjusted his glasses to see where it was pointing. “Lizard has found the final piece!” The old man stated and pointed to a suit of armour that wasn’t far from the original place where it was found, “Well what are you waiting for?”

Setsuna nodded, she could abide by those guidelines. She could only imagine how old some of the tomes were that lined Uncle's classroom and office. "I understand. I would feel terrible if something happened to them."

Taking no offense to his crankiness, Setsuna crossed the hallway to get the piece from the suit of armor. "I see it," she said picking up the missing part of the puzzle. This would make putting the pot together much easier. She held it up so that Uncle could see she had retrieved it.
