Kairi would not be forced to sit there for long, as the unicorn's attention was soon drawn to the far end of the Great Hall, ears lifted and twitching forward as if to better receive some unfamiliar sound. Their adorable brown eyes remained locked on the distance despite it defiantly remaining void of any phenomenon that would warrant such focus.

A second was lost, followed by another, before the faint yelling became loud enough for Kairi's human senses to detect. While initially impossible to define as any specific sound, it soon would become clear that this yell was one born of a mix of excitement and terror, the shout of someone who knew they were doing something utterly idiotic, and yet couldn't help enjoying the ride.

There was no time to discern any further details, however, because in a heartbeat the doors of the Great Hall burst open with a explosion of power and the echoing sound of wood cracking against stone. Through the light of the spell sliced a small brown missile that blazed across the converted hall, creating a contrail of wind that threw up a cloud of grass, dust, and sparkles in its wake. The source of the yelling could be traced to the young wizard currently clinging to the racing broom like his life depended on it, which given the inherent fatality that would result from him letting go was probably a wise decision on his part.

Tears streaming from his eyes, Harry felt splinters digging into his palm as he tried to both steer and curse himself for forgetting to wear goggles and not paying enough attention in gym. Given his knowledge of flying could be summed up as 'zilch' it wasn't that hard to multitask, but luckily all he really had to do was point his ride at the massive blur of sickeningly bright colored masses and hope for the best. The spell he'd used to find Kairi made it possible for him to avoid hitting her, but more than that was far beyond his abilities. Hell, landing was beyond his abilities.

Luckily, landing wasn't part of the plan.

Distance was impossible to judge at this speed, and any attempt at a countdown had long since been abandoned, so Harry went with his perpetual Plan C: Wing it and hope for the best. Therefore, once the multicolored mound had gone from "Huh, that's interesting," to "OhMerlinI'mgonnadie!" distance, Harry closed his eyes, grabbed his wand, shouted a spell to the wind, and let go.
