"Oh, wow! This room looks so bright."

Komachi had stumbled into the room Ahiru was using by accident, lost wandering around the school on her own again. A lot of the rooms she usually stumbled into were thickly coated with dust, or spider webs, or there was that time she interrupted a nest of the ghost pokemon (definitely not the best experience).

"What are you wearing, Ahiru?" She had finally noticed the younger girl's attire, something she wasn't familiar with.

"Qu-qua!!"

Ahiru had, predictably, fallen headfirst over the barre as the other girl had startled her. Really, it was amazing she hadn't died of an actual heart attack yet. So she looked up at Komachi from the floor, one leg hooked over the barre but the rest of her sprawled everywhere.

"H-Hi... it's my practice clothes..."

Komachi clapped her hands over her mouth as she startled Ahiru into falling over, both to keep from laughing and because of the general shock. "Are you okay? That really can't be comfortable." She walked further into the room, picking Ahiru's leg up so that it wasn't hooked on the barre any longer.

"For dancing?" She remembered the younger girl had asked about that over the journals.

"Thank you," she said sheepishly, untangling herself and brushing her tights off as she stood again. "Mm, that's right! For dancing!"

"You're welcome." Komachi grinned before taking a step back. "Is dancing fun? The only kind I've seen are what the villagers do right before a rice harvest, but they usually don't wear practice clothes. Oh, and there was some dancing at the masquerade. I'm not sure that counts since everyone was really weird."

"Dancing is very fun! But it's a lot of hard work," Ahiru said. "I was studying ballet before I got my Hogwarts letter. I even went to a special school for it. B-But not that Hogwarts isn't a special school! And a really good one!"

"Hard work? Like harvesting rice?" Which was the second hardest thing Komachi had ever done. Back breaking labor in the sun was not the greatest thing, but she still had a lot of fun. "Oh, were you sad when you had to leave your special school to come here?"

She was aware that she was asking a lot of questions, but she couldn't help just one final inquiry. "What's ballet?"

Ahiru stopped to consider that. "I don't know," she admitted. "What's harvesting rice like? I'll bet it's yummy!"

But when Komachi asked what ballet was, Ahiru fell over again. Literally. She had just assumed everyone knew what ballet was!

"Eating the rice is yummy!" She laughed. "Harvesting is a lot of hard work, and it takes the whole village to do it!"

Eyes widening, Komachi knelt beside Ahiru, looking concerned. She really seemed to fall over a lot. Maybe she was sick? Or tripped... Somehow. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay," Ahiru croaked. "I'm used to it! Really!"

"Maybe you're sick! Should you go to see one of the nurses maybe?" Komachi blinked, reaching a hand out to Ahiru. "There might be something wrong."

[pirouetteduck]

"Sick?" Ahiru echoed. "I don't feel sick..." She'd never associated her usual clumsiness with an illness before...

"But I wouldn't want to bother them, so it's all right."

[cuteforsamurai]

"They never feel sick! And then one day they just collapse right in the middle of picking rice." The girl nodded briefly. "Isn't it their job to be bothered when people are sick?"

Ahiru didn't really have any reason to argue with her. "W-Well, I guess that's right... I definitely don't want to collapse..."

"Then it's settled! To the infirmary!" Komachi grabbed Ahiru by the wrist and began to pull her out of the room without another thought.
