Chiyo had gone to the library to retreat from all the... weirdness that was going around at Hogwarts. Once she had recovered from her bout with the mushroom soup and no longer thought she was Princess of a cat empire, she had spent most of her time in the kitchens, baking with the Moogles. She had managed to avoid the pit traps entirely, and hadn't minded the singing much at all - she'd even joined in, recording herself with her journal as she baked. But all this love stuff... well. She was ten. A very smart ten, but ten nonetheless, and she figured there were some things she could wait to learn more about

Rin wasn't even paying attention to anything around her, let alone one wayward girl. Despite the fact that her quill scrawled across the page, her mind was elsewhere. She could have easily ended up in Slytherin, for her mind was always twisting, always turning, always planning. One individual kept that from being so, and it wasn't as if Rin cared overly anyway.
It wasn't until the thud of books on the ground as well as something heavier that Rin noted the other. The fact that she made a noise as she impacted against the floor was enough to bring a frown to Rin's face. She wasn't the sympathetic one, the one people ran to with problems, as she had no room for being nice in her world.
"This is the library, you know," she informed the girl on the floor who looked like she would break out crying at any moment.
"Ah, ah, sorry!" Chiyo cried, flailing as she tried to gather the books that had scattered in all different directions. She looked over at the girl who had spoken and smiled sheepishly. She looked irritated. Perhaps the girl meant to be intimidating, but the thought didn't cross the tiny Hufflepuff's mind. This girl looked... cool. There was nothing Chiyo wanted more in the world than to be cool. She was small, cursed with 'cute,' something that made it nearly impossible for anyone to take her seriously, in spite of her great mental aptitude.
Chiyo stacked her books carefully, stood, and tottered over to the table. Plopping her reading material down, she peeked around the stack and smiled again. "Hi! I'm Chiyo Mihama! I am very sorry for bothering you!"
