Orochimaru had left the library with a large stack of books in his arms. Manda was inside of his robe sleeves as per her usual habit, though he could hear her muttering within his sleeve about the jostling she was receiving as a result of all the books he was carrying.
"Sorry," he apologized to her quietly in parseltongue. "I have a lot of work to do."
It wasn't quite true - he was caught up on his schoolwork. However, he was working ahead and making it his goal to get the highest marks that he could. That meant working ahead of everyone else and being prepared for the surprise curves a teacher might throw them on their tests.
The stack of books was tall enough that he could barely see over it, and when he rounded the corner, he walked right into a person. The bump to his arms sent the books flying, and the hiss that came from Manda was an obscenity that insulted the parentage and personal hygeine of whatever clumsy soul had just barrelled into her human.
Crouching down to pick up his books, he turned his attention to the person who had bumped into him with a bland expression on his face.
