For most students dawn was a horrible and mysterious time, one that was to be avoided at all costs, if they even accepted the existence of such a foul thing.
For one young girl, however, this was a wonderful time, one where all the noise and turmoil of the world around her had finally stilled, and she was left standing in a silence that wrapped around her like a warm cloak, only the few birds and crickets keeping her company.
Setsuna did not understand what it was to be truly human, not did she feel she deserved such understanding. She was a freak, a monster, and a tainted one at that. Even the demons who had sired her had cast her out because of her cursed wings, and she had survived only on the mercy of her School's master and his family. She would never forget the debt she owed those kind souls, and was fully prepared to dedicate her every living moment until her dying breath to their service.
Even if it meant coming to this strange land with its bizarre customs, strange people, and extreme weather. It seemed as if every little thing, from the food to the clothes to the way she read the books, was a reminder of just how far she was from her school, her teachers, and the brilliant smile of her Ojou-sama.
Slender feet moved silently over the soft grass of Hogwart's lawn, barely disturbing a single blade. Approaching the small clearing near the south shore of the lake, she watched the rising sun's rays play out over the sparkling water. Smiling softly, Setsuna allowed herself to admit that for all its oddities, this foreign land did have its charms. Setting down the almost absurdly long blade she carried, the half demon set about stretching out her limbs, making sure they were loose and ready for Miria's arrival.
She did not want to disappoint her Sempai after all.
