It was a Saturday, and Haruhi was getting bored. Her club members were all either recovering from injuries (the pansies) or off studying somewhere, and she needed someone to help her work on her masquerade costume.
Hmph. It was completely selfish of them to to be studying when there were other, more exciting things to be doing! Haruhi would not allow that to continue. Her face set, she headed for the Ravenclaw common room. (Kyon was always there.)
Not knowing the password was no issue for her. She simply wandered up and down the corridor outside the Ravenclaw common room, waiting for someone to come along and open the door. Luckily she didn't have to wait too long, two girls came out within a few minutes, giggling to themselves. Probably bout something stupid, Haruhi decided.
Waiting until the last possible second, Haruhi rushed up and stuck her foot in the door. Success! After throwing a quick look around to make sure the coast was clear, she darted inside. Ha! If she kept this up, she could become a ninja!
And of course, there - sitting staring out the window- was Kyon. She crossed the room and stopped dramatically in front of him. "You're not even studying." she accused, glaring down at him.
"Even if you were studying," (her tone implied that she highly doubted this) "there are more important things to do!" There was always something more important that just sitting around, wasting your life away.
"It's decided then!" Haruhi declared, deciding for him. "I'll help you with your homework after you've helped me make my masquerade costume!"
Haruhi had a pretty good idea of what she wanted to go as already andprobably didn't need that much help- but making it herself would have been boring.
To be fair Haruhi did currently intend to help him with the homework. If she forgot later that couldn't be her fault, could it?
"Great!" Haruhi beamed down at the Ravenclaw. It seemed Kyon was learning that it was better if he agreed right away rather than resisting. Haruhi always got her way! "First we'll need to get tin foil from the Moogles in the kitchens..." Haruhi's mind whirled, thinking of all the things she'd need to make her AMAZING costume.
"I'll bet you can't guess what I'm dressing up as~" she teased, pleased with herself for having convinced him. Not giving him any time to actually guess she continued "Well, you'll never guess so I'll tell you! I'm going as a Space Girl!" The costume was her own design, and Haruhi was pretty proud of it.
"Ne, Kyon- have you decided what you're dressing up as yet?" Haruhi kind of wanted him to dress to match her, but there was no way she was going to suggest it! He'd have to figure it out himself.

Kyon turned towards Haruhi slowly and blinked. He could ask how she got in there, but it didn't really matter, there she was.
"I am so. See all the books? I'm working on Transfiguration."

"I don't want to study, but I have to." Kyon decided. "I have work to turn in and if I get another P, my mother is going to be really mad."

And Kyon still wouldn't have done his homework.
He stared at his books and then he glanced at Haruhi.
Somewhere, somehow he was cursing his gender and age.
"Alright, I'll help you with your costume." How could he say no? It was even just an innocent task.

"No, I haven't decided. I was thinking about whether or not to go though."
