Auron, not usually one to stray from his own plans, felt the need to talk to Luxord concerning the Gryffindor's favorite problem student, Toph Bei Fong. He knew Luxord would be a good person to ask considering Auron had only just entered the teaching profession.

"Professor, can I have a word with you?" he asked as Luxord was seemingly cleaning up after a day of Arithmancy.

Luxord had just cleared off the chalk board of several charts, numbers, and the homework assignment when he heard someone come in. He was rather surprised to turn and find the newest Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Auron, approaching him.

"Certainly," he replied, rather curious now as to why Auron was approaching him of all people. "What's this about?"

He watched as Luxord continued cleaning off the board with numbers becoming flying powder within moments. He looked over his darkened frames to see into Luxord's eyes, letting him know exactly how serious he was taking this.

"Toph Bei Fong...know her?"

"Yes, she's a Gryffindor if I'm not mistaken," Luxord replied. He'd seen her in the halls and knew she was prone to mischief. He also knew she had been rather close to Professor Iroh. Aside from that, Luxord didn't know much else about her, aside from a few basic tidbits.

He was still unsure as to where Auron was going with this, or why he was talking to him of all people.

"That's correct, Professor," Auron said. Although he wasn't too close to Luxord, Auron could still tell he was confused from the conversation. "I had to discipline her recently. She's the first student I've had to since I arrived. However, she seems to think that it's personal."

"I'm not one to get too close to students, but is there a way to make her believe I was only doing my job?" Auron asked with an air of softness to his voice.

Ah, well, that made sense then. Luxord leaned against his desk and looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, it certainly is the most difficult part of being in this profession," Luxord admitted.

He sighed, for some reason this was always the hardest part, especially for new teachers. "I'm not sure what helpful advice I can give you, after all, many students like to make teachers into an enemy so that they have someone to blame other than themselves. Still, I would suggest reassuring her that the discipline was necessary and that any student would have been treated in the same manner."

Luxord drummed his fingers against the top of his desk, "Teaching is one of those professions where you have to learn to improvise and learn as you go. I hope this matter hasn't troubled you too greatly."

To the "hardest part" about teaching in general, Auron replied, "I'm getting that."

He watched and listened carefully as he heeded Luxord's words. "I think she knows I'm only the enemy because I stop her from her pranks and jokes. I'll approach her as to the reason I punished her soon enough. Thank you."

Auron nodded his head toward the teacher and turned away. "Good day," he said as he closed the door behind him.
