A Walk Through the Grounds

Ellone was used to being 'the new kid.' She'd been shuffled around for years and years, and every time she ended up at a new school or new home. Once she'd even lived on a boat for a few years. That had been awkward to get used to and awkward to get away from. Life hadn't really been too kind to her or those she loved. She still had no idea who the professors were at this new school, but even though she knew she ought to go meet them, she decided against it for the moment, choosing instead to walk around the grounds for a little bit.
Glancing around at all the hills, she marveled at the beauty of the place, wondering how much time she could spend down here, and also hoping that she could get her work done while she did so. Holding the strap of her school bag, which was hanging over her shoulder, between her hands, Ellone walked through the grass, unaware of where she was going or how close to anyone else she was.
