Name(s): Rangiku & June Location: Rangiku's bedroom & then wherever June drags her XD Week: 35 Time: Saturday morning Rating: PG, for crankiness, sparring and bosoms
Rangiku appreciated the caring, really. And she felt bad for making her friends worry under any circumstances, but right now she wasn't really thinking about that so much as thinking about how comfortable her bed was.
"Are you trying to get me out of the bed or make me stay in it?" Although her voice was thick with sleep, some amusement shone through. At least, it did before she rolled right back over. This would be a funny story to tell Ashe later, and she smiled a little at the thought of the expression Ashe might make. June's pillow pilfering prodded her out of the thought, but not into a state of great enough alertness to have some counter for the bounty hunter's actions. Rangiku slid, scrabbled for a taunting second before she fell in a graceless heap on the floor. June was lucky she'd put pillows down.
"What are you doing, June?" Rangiku groaned, annoyed and exhausted. Maybe she could just... go to sleep on the floor and June would take the hint? Unlikely, knowing June. Pushing herself up a little, Rangiku observed her friend with sleepy eyes. "Ne, this isn't helping. This is abuse! Just wait until-- I tell Ashe." Her words were broken up with a yawn, and since this was the first time she'd appeared without a glamour for more days than she cared to think about, there were dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep that would previously have gone unseen.
June wasn't caring much for Rangiku's rigid-minded attempts at staying underneath the warm covers. While the bed was certainly large and comfortable looking, the Game Keeper wasn't contented to see her friend so bed-ridden. Rangiku's question was almost funny to June, if it didn't sound so tempting at the same time. However, in fear of losing her job for sexual harassment, she chose to just laugh it off and say, "You tease."
Her concern did rise upon watching Rangiku sloppily slide off the end of the bed and fall into the landing spot of pillows at the edge. He didn't want to injure Rangiku at all. She just wanted to give her a wake-up call to life. At the same time, June carried her swagger even as Rangiku complained to her. "Abuse? Please...if those pillows down there wouldn't have broken your fall, your pillow certianly would have." June was careful and helped Rangiku to her feet and dusted her off, making sure not to get too close to previously said "pillows." June looked into the half-moons of Matsumoto's sleepy eyes with some blend of contempt and concern. "Besides, you, the Head of Hufflepuff, aren't really about to go and tattle on me to the Head of Gryffindor, right? I would think you something more mature than that, Morning Glory."
Now, June turned on her sensitive side, her voice lowering to a motherly tone of sorts. "Listen, girl, I know what's been happening. You're looking worse and worse by the day. You're still miles ahead of everybody else, but I can still tell this Iroh thing has gotten you all shook up." She placed a gloved hand on Rangiku's shoulder. "I just don't wanna see you go down the wrong path. I've seen it happen to some good people."
"Not if you're the right person," she muttered without thinking. She and Ashe had decided to try and keep their relationship under wraps, at least for now. By all rights Rangiku could've told June by now since she was a friend, but everything with Iroh has kind of pushed sharing to the back of her mind.
She arched her eyebrow tiredly at June's pillow commentary. "Oi, they aren't crash buffers," Rangiku retorted, wrapping her arms over them protectively. Thought she made a slightly ridiculous face, half scandalized at the thought of an attack to her girls and half sulking at the implication she was being immature, Rangiku managed to shake her head. "Fine. I won't tell her." She paused a moment. "She'd still take you down."
And with June's words, Rangiku sighed. "I'm fine June. You don't need to worry." A slightly cheeky smile quirked her lips. "I'm just tired, because some people don't like to let me sleep."
June raised a brow and smirk on her face on Rangiku's unintended utterance. She was aware that her mind was still waking up, but she couldn't help but be amused by the fact. "Don't worry, Morning Glory. I know I'm not the right person. If I were, I wouldn't be sitting outside of the bed." June had always been attracted to Rangiku, but even she knew she wasn't exactly relationship material.
June noticed the wonderful view provided by Rangiku's folded arms, but made no mention of it and instead diverted her attention to their more pertinent conversation. "Sorry. I guess I tend to overestimate just how amazing those thigns are...though I still think they're a bit amazing." June nodded along as though to mock Rangiku's assurance in Ashe's handling of things. "Sure thing, Ranny. I will not be one to cross Professor Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca, Head of Gryffindor House. Besides, she's cool."
Rangiku's pleading in her sleepy state were even more pathetic than they sounded in her own head. June shook her head and hooked an arm around the frazzled teacher. "Come now, Matsy, I would like to let you sleep. But I'm just not gonna. Besides, you have class soon. Now get dressed in some good workout clothes and I'll meet you outside of your room. Chop, chop."
Rangiku's eyebrows rose a little. Oops. "Ne, don't worry, June. We'll get someone dashing and charming for you soon enough," she said, trying to inject a little humour in. "Just for fun, hm?" the blonde added, teasing just a little despite her tiredness. Maybe if she seemed more energetic she could sneak in more sleep later.
"They are, when they aren't giving you back pain," Rangiku replied with a smile. Her energy was picking up a little, for all that she wanted to go back to bed. "You better not. If she doesn't kick your butt in line, that'd mean I have to." Her smile softened just a shade. She hadn't seen Ashe for a for days. That needed to be remedied.
She sighed a little. Well, this looked inevitable, for now. Still she quirked an eyebrow. "It's a Saturday, June. I'm not crazy enough to do Saturday classes!" Actually, now she thought about it, who was? ... Byakuya, probably. And Nanao. At the instructions, she nodded. In theory she could just lock June out, sound proof the room and go back to bed, but that's just mean she'd have to deal with this later. "All right, all right. I'll be out in a second." Scratching the back of her head, she moved towards her dresser.
