Walking along the corridor sporting a secret passage that didn't so much lead someone as drop them down four stories via a slide, Naruto spotted a boy talking to himself. Never one to leave someone clearly lonely alone, he let a small smile loose and got closer.

"Hi! I'm Uzumaki Naruto! What's your name?"

Luke had started reading his book again, trying to figure out to himself where the Qui..ditched thing could possibly be at. About half into a sentence he heard the introduction. This time, he jumped slightly and actually dropped the book he held from sheer surprise. "Agh!" Again! These people appeared out of nowhere all the time! "Dammit! Everyone has to go and surprise me like that. It's gonna give me a heartattack." Luke picked the book back up and happened to glance at one of the names on the page he had been looking at, which did match the name he was just given. "Hey. You're that guy I was talking to."

Looking at him in confusion, Naruto scratched the back of his head. "Uh...What's your name again?"

He'd made it such a point to talk to anyone and everyone on his way to and from class, as well as in the journals, that he had a hard time placing him. Plus, he was a new guy, so...yeah, slightly confused.

"Luke fon Fabre." He said flatly, like he was kind of insulted that the kid didn't know--then again how could he have. given that the magical journal thing was just writing. "You invited me to see that one.. sport thing," He'd get the name of it eventually, "So I was looking for where it's played at."

"Oh yeah, that!" he stared at the ceiling for a second before slapping his head to his forehead. "Well, we don't play it here...C'mon, follow me, Luke!"

Setting a course, Naruto darted down the corridor, looking back from time to time to let the other boy catch up, heading in a direct line towards the broom shed and the fields beyond.

Ahead, down several flights of staircases, was the door that led to the courtyards and outside world.

He'd figured that they wouldn't play a sport in a place like the one that he was in--but he was searching for some place that they might! Sheesh. Looking for a place in a school that he'd barely been in while looking for a field for a sport he'd never seen was like multiplying by zero.

Luke followed his new acquaintance without question, for the most part, through several winding halls and corridors to an outside field. He hesitated before walking out in the open space, which was a lot more.. open than the courtyard he had back home. "So this is it?" The field was so long and there was nothing but a vast expanse of sky overhead. The redhead looked around and looked a little more lost than usual in all the open space, "It's huge!"

"Yup," Naruto said, smiling proudly and excitedly at the other boy's reaction. "This is it."

He spread his arms to encompass the sky, still smiling, before toppling backwards and falling with a laugh, safely, to lie on the ground, staring at the sky.

"C'mon, lie down! You've just got to get used to it, huh? I'll go get us some brooms in a bit." Naruto loved being outdoors, and anyway, Luke looked like he needed a little bit of time and he'd learned a little bit about tact since coming to Hogwarts, thank you very much.

Eh heh heh, Luke looked~ Luke looked Look luked eh hehhehheheheh~ ahem.

He sat up and patted a patch of empty grass next to him, breathing in the rich smell of fresh grass and clear air.

Luke's eyes darted from one thing to another; surrounding the entire field was a pantheon of bleachers, and there seemed to be these tall structures around it for some reason--probably because it was a flying sport. It was nice and open but..

When presented with the suggestion of sitting down, Luke turned to his new comrade with a huffy expression, "Sit in the dirt?" Luke crossed his arms, "No way. If I sit down then my clothes are gonna get all dingy." If they were going to fly like was implied than he wouldn't have that problem! Besides, the field was dirty enough and he'd have to worry about his shoes enough as it was. "Come on! Where's the brooms."

Naruto shrugged, wriggling on the ground a little more, enjoying the fresh breezes and green(ish) grass before rolling to his feet and leading the way, not bothering to brush away the grass blades that still stuck to him.

The broom shed had the familiar, soft smell of varnished wood and leather, and Naruto easily hefted two brooms; one was his own, which was fast but sturdy and bore splinters from many different crashes into various objects - the other a normal school broom which travelled slowly, but very steadily.

Naruto tossed the school broom overarm at Luke with a grin. "You know how to fly, right?"

Typical of Luke not wanting to wait, he began to get terribly impatient as the new guy took leisure time. The redhead wasn't used to being forced to wait to get whatever he wanted and when he didn't get what he wanted right away the grumpiness set it. Fortunately before he got too vocal about it they were off again to the broom shed ( ... )

"Alright!"

Naruto stroked his broom with a touch of magic, making it thrum under his hand. Crouching into a twist, he sent the broom arrowing away in a straight line, hovering above the ground. Rising from his crouch he sprinted alongside, vaulted onto the broom and instantly soared towards the sky. It was a rather showy mounting, but heh, he'd always liked showing off.

"Come on, Luke! The sky's great today!"

He'd always loved flying, too. It'd been a way to get away from being alone, when he was younger. He'd learned all kinds of tricks on how to get away from pursuers midflight, too.

"What a showoff.." Luke mumbled at the rather astounding broom mount. Just his luck he had to go and get someone who was a complete expert to show him the field. He was probably doing it on purpose just to make him look bad!

"Yeah, I'm coming. Just gimme a minute. Geez!" The redhead took his broom and sat on it while it he was firmly on the ground, and slowly the broom began to raise up, but it didn't go very far off the ground. It was kind of wobbly as well, but at least it had flown somewhat. "All right. Now ..getting higher." If he could get it off the ground that wouldn't be a problem. So he concentrated, and the broom slowly did rise above the field, but again not nearly the height needed to fly.

"It's been a long while, huh?" Naruto called from where he was above the field, before swooping down into a hover next to Luke.

Stumped at how to get the broom to rise (when he'd first mounted a broom, he couldn't get it to rise either, but he'd just kept at it until he could and he still can't describe how) for Luke, Naruto instead kept him company, hovering next to him, his feet brushing the ground where he sat floating above the grass.

He grinned at Luke, fully trusting that Luke's broom would rise. "Eh, don't worry if you can't get it to move easily, these school brooms are a little unresponsive."

That comment just seemed to rub in the fact that his flying was less than parr all the more! Yeah, it sounded like sympathy or whatever but Luke still couldn't shake the feeking that he was being made fun of for not being able to fly incredibly high.

"Tch.." The redhead didn't even want to discuss it because he'd just end up getting more irritated. It was probably the brooms anyway--like Naruto said--they did look awful run down. Like everything else, the brooms probably wore out after so much use. "So how would you play this sport anyway? You fly, and what. Chase each other like tag?"

"Well, that'd be fun and it would test our skills, but we play with balls. Here."

Re-entering the shed, Naruto procured the Quaffle, tucking it under his arm as he exited the shed.

Showing the Quaffle in all of its red and spherical glory, Naruto rolled it in between his hands. "There're three Chasers in each House team, and we each try to get the Quaffle into those three hoops," he pointed upwards, as only the golden supporting poles were visible on ground level, "And each team has a Keeper which tries to block it. And each goal scores ten points!"

"There's other balls as well, like the bludgers and the Snitch, but the Quaffle's really important. Wanna toss it around a bit?"

Luke eyed the thing that his new "pal" was talking about. Quaffle, Snitching, Bludgers, Chasers.. what the heck it sounded like he was speaking another language! The expression on his face--obviously confused--said what he was thinking without actually saying it. Luke glanced up at the huge golden hoops when they were mentioned, and mentally tried to get his head around the concept of the game.

"So basically you just try and score goals while you're on a broom." The redhead oversimplified the meaning of the game out loud to himself; he didn't like overcomplicated things.

He raised an eyebrow when posed the questioned about toss, "Playing catch? That's a kids game."
