Just look at all the popular series right now. Almost all the female leads have at least one gay guy friend.

[She can't explain it to you.... it's just there in print. And she's kinda ticked at someone for standing her up. Spending time with a gay guy cuts out all the courting drama...and no need to compete with him.]
