There will be affirmative action here today," [Kwame] Kilpatrick said. "There will be affirmative action here tomorrow and there will be affirmative action in our state forever."
so if i say "there will be liberty here today, there will be liberty here tomorrow and there will be liberty in our state forever", are you going to Alabama quote out on me?
quit trying to rhetorize me!! i mean, it sucks that there will always have to be affirmative action in Michigan and i think politicians should be there to give us hope...but in the forseeable future, that's how it's gotta be. aff. action isn't bad, baby. :)
did u know that a white student from the UP going to U of M would get more "affirmative action points" than a black student from detroit? so who is AA really helping/harming anyway?
first off it's kwame kilpatrick who's as racist as anyone in the kkk, so yes the analogy holds. secondly, affirmative action and segregation are policies, while liberty is an abstract noun. Thirdly, I think affirmative action harms anyone who's being held to a lower standard than the rest of humanity, sort of like the three-fifths compromise. And no, affirmative action will not be necessary forever, nor is it necessary now-I told you how we could get rid of the need for affirmative action by altering the education system so that poor people have access to better schools.
