As an Australian whose idea of culture growing up is birthday parties at McDonalds, running under sprinklers on hot summer days BBQs blasting from the backyard and never getting to spend Australia Day anywhere but the Adelaide cricket ground because of the Australia Day test match. The allure of over-populated, rich or poor European countries which have more culture and history engrained in the dirt on their ground than Australia has ever got a chance in hoping for is too strong for me to ignore. Obviously Australia has it's own history too but it is so incredibly dwarfed by everything I'm learning and experiencing over here. It is so different.
It's all relative I guess. I find it incredibly fascinating over here but it's not so strange that you are more open and fascinated by wide open spaces and an even bigger sense of freedom and diversity that Australia and particularly Russia can offer.
