i mean to record our vacation all the time, but it never happens - maybe i'm too busy being lazy. i tell myself its okay though, because i have so many photos to remember it by. today is wednesday and that usually means going a few minutes down the road to our neighbourhood bar, which just happens to be a cute little cocktail bar called Twisted Martini. they have a $3 cocktail night for the girls on wednesday nights, which brings hoards of girls who like to dance around to 80's music and a few very mixed men. it closes at 1am which is the worst thing about it. the first time we went i wasnt too thrilled with it, but after seeing what else is here in terms of nightlife, i'm liking it more and more.
we've been eating out so much that i'm putting on a healthy amount of weight. every day it's somewhere new that we just have to check out. yesterday was a mexican restaurant in Jacksonville beach which was supposedly authentic but wasn't too impressive for any of us. the food was bland. i prefer taco bell but then my penchant for fast food is a little overblown. we ended the day by going to Sneakers, a sports bar and restaurant with 6 enormous screens with all kinds of sports, mingled with countrless tv's also with sports. it looks like a basketball court with tvs on all sides and tables and bar in the center, with Hooters style girls in little uniforms serving food and drinks. a place like that is definitely not something you'd see in Sydney so i love it there. i'm just amazed how they've managed to capture a stadium atmosphere and sounds in a restaurant. the high ceilings maybe? and i dont even like sports. but i think that during a sports crazy season, it might even be fun to waste a few hours there with wings and beer.
speaking of wings and beer, i think Ranch is now my favourite flavour. its perfectly savoury and cooling and tangy. i put it on everything now. ranch dressing and chicken, which seems to be such an unnatural combination is heavenly to me now.
last weekend we were out trying to have a good time. live bands which do covers seem to be popular here, and they sound good to us music starved people. after one unsuccessful club which we promptly escaped from, we went to a place with a Thai restaurant upstairs and lovely decorations with velvet curtains and giant gilt framed mirrors. the bar girl didnt even bother charging us for diet cokes and everyone was drinking martinis (do they drink anything else here?!). of course on the tv's in the bar they had a savage cage fight  which kept all the guys glued to the tvs while the girls danced to the live band.
tomorrow we're going down to Miami with Dennis' dad to pick up a car he bought. it's a long trip of about 4 hours but he has a comfortable truck and i like road trips. plus the excitement of getting up at 4 am is an added bonus. Dennis doesnt like hanging out with his dad and i'm always trying to curb my enthusiasm because his family is great.
so every day is like this. i'm so tired by the end of each one that i either fall down dead with exhaustion or pass out from drinking or stay awake feverishly from too many stimulants. life is fun. not going to think about the end of this.
