i'm like running on a high of life today. i love these kinds of days!
this morning i had a pre-screen for a well-known/respected Canadian drama called Da Vinci's - City Hall. it's a spin off of the original, Da Vinci's Inquest, about a coroner and now he's mayor. it's supposed to be slightly based on our current mayor, apparently. anyways, i was practicing a bit last night, and got my whole outfit ready for the next day, b/c it was gonna be at 9am. i was supposed to be a prostitute (lol yeah, i know), so i wore my black mini pleated cord skirt w/ a chain attached on it w/ knee-high almost stiletto brownish/reddish/blackish boots, a plain beige tank, and my dark denim motorcycle jacket. i just put my hair up in a half, and put the usual bronzer, mascara, and liner on. oh, i used my hot headshot. lol so, i do it for the casting director only [that's a pre-screen] and she gave me direction, and she liked what she saw and how i took it so she asked me to stay for the director/producer at 9:30am.
i had a quiz to do but i called/emailed the teacher the day before and told her i had a pre-screen in the morning anyways. my class was taking the quiz then going to learn about sound and boom op w/ another teacher, and since i already know the basics of it, it was alright if i was late for that.
so the producer/director was stuck in traffic and ended up being late, but when they came and was ready i was the first one in, b/c i told them i had to go to school afterwards. so, during the audition, what i first did, they liked! the CD (casting director) asked them if they had any suggestions or directions for me, and they couldn't think of any! they were just like "that was good. that was really good. i can't think of anything..." score! lol but then the producer (whose son i went to elementary school w/, hello it's a small world!) thought of something and i did it and he said it was a really good change. after that, i thanked them and sprinted outta there to get to class. but i just realized that i forgot to sign out!!! aaahhh! crackers. that really bites.
oh, and after my pre-screen, the CD asked me to mess my hair up a bit more (she said lotion, but yuck! i just washed my hair the night before, which i probs shouldn't have done... but oh well, what can you do about it now!), and to make my make-up a bit messier or whatever. i didn't have my make-up bag w/ me (which, Note to Self: Bring Make-Up bag w/ you to auditions!), so i went to the bathroom and put some water in my hair to make it look a bit stringy (she said i looked too clean! which yeah, i did. lol i had to go to school afterwards and i have an interview later on today!) and also rubbed my mascara/what was left of my liner around a bit so i looked like trash. lol to basically put it...
then i went to school, made it just as they were all going to the other class, and wrote my test. the thing i love about film school tests is that they're so unconventional. lol like i was talking to the teacher about class and the people and the test, partly. lol but that was also b/c i know a lot of it from my previous years.
so yeah, after the test i went down to the studio and they were learning about roping the cords properly then the boom operator and the kind of mics that are used.
then, after that, we had 15min to kill before a meet & greet type deal w/ the Acting for Film/TV Prog. that was fun, it's always cool/interesting/fun to see the new faces of wannabe actors. lol so that went for an hour and my group knew which 2 actors we wanted to use for our shoot, and got a hold of one of them.
umm what else? i met up w/ joanne and we might shoot something quick, just 'cause it's fun to play around. then at 5:30pm i have an interview at a restaurant downtown, and we might shoot something/eat, then we have a production meeting for a short/indie film we're gonna be camera assistants for (have i mentioned that already?) this coming weekend. craaaazyness!
