When storms hit Atlantis, they hit hard. The normally peaceful seas become dangerous waters, the skies go dark and all pilots are grounded. Everyone is holed up, using up as little of the cities resources as possible until the storm has passed.
The city is cold, the wind can be felt in her halls, in the rooms, and on a stormy night like this, even the warm comforter doesn’t feel warm enough.
They find each other on nights like this, unspoken meetings. Evan thinks it’s almost a bit like the Beltane stories his mother used to love, where everyone sought out their lovers and it was never mentioned outside of that night.
If anyone sees him walk into his commanding officer’s quarters at an hour normally unacceptable, their eyes just slide right on by, never to be mentioned or thought of when the skies have cleared. It’s human nature to seek warmth, to create our own energy when it is otherwise sparse. Heat between bodies, blood pounding, searching for something to keep us warm.
Even a Lt. Colonel and a Major snuggle on stormy nights.
