Dear Yuletide Writer,
Hi, new favorite person! I love all of these fandoms, and I’m so excited that you’ve offered one of them! I can’t wait to read whatever you write for me. Here are some of my general likes/dislikes before I get into the specific requests.
Likes: character-driven stories, romance (I generally lean towards canon pairings as specified below), female friendships, slow burn UST, porn (if appropriate), backstory and missing scene fic, best friends who fall in love, banter and bickering, fake relationship tropes, and men who adore the women in their lives. I have a preference for happier/more hopeful endings, and female characters are almost always my favorites. I talk a lot about romance in my requests, but I love reading great gen and friendship fic as well. I really love AUs, and I’ve specified a few fandoms below that I would love to receive an AU for. If you have any questions on this or anything else, ask the mods and I’ll be happy to answer!
Dislikes: misogyny, noncon or dubcon, major character death (you can use anything that’s already canon of course), character bashing, infidelity, excessive embarrassment, unrequited female pining, nice guysTM.
This is my seventh year participating in Yuletide! If you’d like to take a look at some of what I’ve written to get a better idea, my fic master list is located here and almost everything is archived over at for_the_coast or AO3, otherwise it’s in my fic tag on Tumblr. My journal is primarily locked (although if you go through my Yuletide tag, my past letters are all public), but I have Tumblr (x) and a GoodReads account (x), and both of those are public and a pretty good reflection of what I like.
I’m the type of writer who likes more details rather than less when I’m writing a story for someone else, so my requests generally reflect that. You can choose what you would like to take or leave based on what works for you. These are just some of my ideas, but they are certainly not the complete list of stories I would like to read for any of these fandoms. I know whatever you write is going to be great!
Request #1: Betsy-Tacy
Characters: Betsy Ray, Tacy Kelly, Tib Muller, Joe Willard
I would love to read a modern AU, but really anything that expands on this world and these characters would be wonderful!
This is a repeat request that I received a lovely treat for two years ago, but I always want more in this universe so I’m requesting it again!
Basics: the relationship between the three girls is one of my all-time favorite friendships in any media, but all of the friendships in the larger group/the Crowd are wonderful and I'd even love to read about characters who don't interact as much in canon. I ship all of the canon pairings, particularly Betsy/Joe and Carney/Sam (who are not nominated this year, but they are welcome if they happen to fit into the story), although I enjoy Tacy/Harry and Tib/Jack as well.
If AUs are your thing, I would love to read a modern AU for this series, especially one set in college. If AUs aren't your thing, any canon verse fic would be wonderful as well. You don't need to include all of my requested characters if you would like to write a story focusing on just the three girls or just on Betsy/Joe, and appearances by any other characters would be welcome as needed!
For some ideas set in canon, I’d love to read about Betsy and Joe’s life post-series or something that explores their relationship from Joe’s POV. I’d also love to read something about Joe forming friendships with Tacy and Tib, as Betsy’s two most important and dearest friends. If you wanted to explore Betsy, Tacy, and Tib’s friendship as they grew older and had careers and families of their own. And I love, love, love that this series does include the girls going to college and focuses on Betsy’s dream of being a writer - so if you wanted to write a story about Betsy’s writing career, and how Joe and Tacy and Tib support her and influence her writing, that would also be great!
Fandom #2: Firebird Series - Claudia Gray
Characters: Marguerite Caine, Paul Markov
I would love to read more about Paul and Marguerite’s relationship in any of the alternate universes, especially Cambridgeverse, or something about how Marguerite and Paul move forward together and deal with everything that’s happened in the series.
This is another repeat request, and I’ll be updating it when the third and final book is released in November. But please do not feel obligated to include anything from the third book if you aren’t going to read it right away or you are writing before the release date!
ANYWAY, this series is one of the few YA series I am really into at the moment. The slight differences in each alternate universe fascinate me - how some of them are almost insignificant, but other worlds are almost unrecognizable just with a few small changes. I love the characters and the worlds, but I also really love the dynamic between Marguerite and Paul and I ship them a lot. But in addition to our Marguerite and Paul, I’m fascinated by the other universe variations of Marguerite and Paul.
So on that note, one of the things I would love to read about most is an exploration of Marguerite and Paul in one of the other universes presented in the series. In book two, Cambridgeverse stood out to me in particular - it hit a really achy tone that resonated with me and made me want more. I’d love to read about where the characters go from that point and how their relationship develops. If that particular universe doesn’t interest you, though, I would love to read about any of the other alternate universes instead (except for the mobverse). I will update this after the third book release, but I expect any new universes introduced there would be great as well.
Or if you don’t want to work with one of the universes already in the books, I’d love to read something about Marguerite and Paul in a completely separate universe - get creative and tell me a story about them in a universe that somewhat resembles Regency England, or one where Marguerite’s parents are involved in politics and lobbying and they live in the DC area, or create some other universe set in New York City (I live in New York and loved the NYC setting in mobverse, so anything else set in NYC minus Paul joining the family business would be great)! Anything you come up with would probably be more creative than what I’ve laid out here, so really use this as your license to do just about anything. (I would prefer any alternate universe stay strictly in the non-fantasy or paranormal, which may seem like a strange request for a YA scifi series, but basically keep to the more “realistic” scifi side of things and no vampires, fairies, etc.)
I would also love to read anything exploring Marguerite and Paul’s relationship in the aftermath of book 2. I was actually expecting them to break up at the end of the book, and although they actually didn’t break up, they definitely have a lot to work through together to get back to solid ground. How does that happen? How do things work out with them and Theo? (I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet, but I love Theo even though I don’t ship him with Marguerite!) How do they work out the communications technology that Cambridgeverse was working on, and how does that affect their relationship, interacting with versions of themselves that are in such a different place?
And finally, I’d love to read anything about what happens for Marguerite and Paul after book 3! This section will be updated when the book has been released, but anything that explores their future together would be wonderful!
Fandom #3: Full House
Characters: Becky Donaldson, Stephanie Tanner, Jesse Katsopolis
I’d love to read something about Becky and Stephanie’s relationship, either when Stephanie was younger or set in the Fuller House universe/when she’s grown up. I would also love a story about Becky or Stephanie individually, or something that explores Becky/Jesse’s romance.
This is something of an either/or request, and you can either choose to stick to Full House canon or write something entirely based around Fuller House canon. I love both shows and would be happy to read a story set in either time frame.
I have been thinking about requesting Full House for Yuletide for years, and with the release of Fuller House, this seemed like the perfect year to do it. Stephanie and Becky are my two favorite characters, so I would really love to read a story that focuses on their relationship. It could be something as simple as Becky helping Stephanie pick out an outfit for a school dance or them meeting up for lunch when Stephanie is grown up. Really anything about them being together and supporting each other and having a good, open, friendly relationship and Becky being a female role model for Steph would be great.
I would also love something that focuses on just one of the two women. For Becky, I’d love to read about her adjustment period when she and Jesse moved into the attic after they got married. How did she deal with moving in with Jesse’s family and losing the privacy they thought they would have? Even though she loves the family too, were there ever moments where she needed to get away from it and have her (or her and Jesse’s own space), since she grew up in a big family herself? How did they deal with finding that balance? I’d love to see missing scenes from her and Jesse’s relationship, from when they were dating to later on in their lives, in the period in between Full House and Fuller House. Or if you want to write something focused on her career and navigating her career path as a woman and the primary breadwinner for her family, that would also be great!
For Stephanie, I’d love to read anything about her growing up, her friendship with Gia or her relationship with DJ. If you’ve seen Fuller House, I would also love to read something about her working out an ultimate career path now that she’s come back to San Francisco, or something about how her relationship with Kimmy grows from their past animosity to an odd friendship. One of the things that really hit me in Fuller House was Stephanie talking about the fact that she can’t have children. I wasn’t expecting it and it was a really emotional moment for me. If you wanted to explore something with Stephanie adopting or fostering, I would love to read that as well.
Fandom #4: Pitch (2016 TV)
Characters: Ginny Baker, Mike Lawson, Blip Sanders, Evelyn Sanders
Anything that focuses on Ginny’s journey and her relationships with Mike, Blip, and/or Evelyn.
I am a huge baseball fan, so this show was absolutely made for me! Because only three episodes have aired so far, I may come back and add to this if I get more ideas as we get more information about the show and the characters. For now, though, I’m really loving watching Ginny’s journey, so even though I requested Mike, Blip, and Evelyn, I’d really like for a story focused on Ginny.
I’d love to see anything that focuses on Ginny dealing with being thrust into the spotlight as a role model for women and finding her own way to navigate that and address issues of women in sports/sexism and misogyny in sports culture. The scene in episode three with Daniela meant so much to me, so even just moments between Ginny and Daniela would be fun to read.
Ginny’s relationship with Blip and Evelyn is also fantastic. I would love to know more about their friendships - Ginny and Blip, and Ginny and Evelyn, and Ginny with Blip and Evelyn as a unit. How did those relationships develop? Was Ginny friends with Blip first and then he started dating Evelyn, or were Blip and Evelyn already together when Blip and Ginny met? Ginny being assimilated into Blip and Evelyn’s family and hanging out with their kids would be fun, or Ginny escaping the pressures of being in the majors by just kicking back with Blip and/or Evelyn would be great too. (I really enjoy Blip and Evelyn's relationship, so I'd like for anything that includes them not to write against that.)
And then Ginny and Mike. I am really enjoying their relationship, but I’m not sure that I really ship them (yet, it could still happen). I’d love to read anything that focuses on them developing their reluctant friendship and mentor/mentee relationship, working out together, going over scouting reports, and pushing each other to be better.
If you’re also a baseball/MLB fan and want to throw in some more specific baseball, I would obviously love to read that - anything from more in-game action to (if you’re open to it), moments like Ginny meeting Vin Scully when the Padres play the Dodgers or Ginny meeting Mo’ne Davis. If you’re not a baseball person, though, don’t worry about this at all! While I do appreciate how well Pitch has done so far on the details of baseball, you don’t have to know anything about the sport to write me a story I’m going to love!

Fandom #5: Waitress Musical
Characters: Jenna Hunterson
Anything about Jenna post-musical, on her own, or with Lulu and her friends, exploring life on her own, working in her pie shop, and generally just being happy.
What a charming, fun musical!! It’s one of my favorites that I’ve seen in the past few years (second only to Hamilton, really). Jessie Mueller’s performance as Jenna blew me away and I found myself thinking a lot about what happens to Jenna after the musical ends. I would love to read anything about her just being happy and finding herself, living life with Lulu and making it just the two of them. It could be something really simple about teaching Lulu to bake or spending a day out together.
I also really enjoyed Jenna’s friendships with Becky and Dawn, so if they happened to feature in this, they would be more than welcome.
