Dear Fic Corner Author,
Hi!! Thank you so much for writing a story for me. I'm excited to read a story about any of these universes, but before I get to the specific requests, here are some general likes and dislikes.
For past letters, I've done Fic Corner once before (x) and Yuletide for many years (x). Those letters contain a more detailed list of likes and dislikes, all of which are still valid. My requests are generally for extension of canon stories. I like relationship- and character-driven stories, romance and friendships (especially female friendships), and the ladies are almost always my favorites. I like stories with hopeful endings, and while I do really love AUs, unless specified (or obviously in the case of Firebird where canon is built in AUs), I would prefer something that fits into canon.
Request #1: Emmy & Oliver - Robin Benway
Characters: Emmy, Oliver
I just want to know more about what happens next! I loved how their romance developed, and anything that expands on that in the future would be wonderful.
This book is hands down my favorite contemporary YA that I've read in the past year. I have such a soft spot for stories about childhood friends, and everything about this particular childhood friends story captivated me from the start. The book itself was more or less everything I could want, and even so, I found myself wanting more. I'd love to read anything that deals with their relationship going forward: how they deal with Emmy being away at college, more on how they adjust with both of their families (especially with Oliver's father in prison), sharing moments that they missed while Oliver was away, maybe Oliver showing Emmy his favorite places in New York one day. It could be interesting to explore something that's a combination of news and epistolary fiction - especially because I imagine Oliver's story would be one that news outlets might want to follow up on every so often.
Request #2: Firebird Series - Claudia Gray
Characters: Marguerite Caine, Paul Markov
The series set up such an interesting dynamic between Marguerite and Paul by having their relationship develop between Marguerite and guard!Paul in the Russian monarchy universe. I'd love to see how the relationship between Marguerite and her!Paul deal with that and how their own potential romantic relationship develops as a result. I'd also love to read a story about Marguerite and Paul from another universe or something that delves more into the relationship between Marguerite and Paul in book!verse in the past.
I love alternate universes, so this series was pretty much made for me! I love the slight changes and how those affect things - it was one of my favorite things about Fringe too. And the triangle of sorts they've set up between Marguerite and the two Pauls reminds me a little bit of Farscape, if you've seen it. So my request is more or less exactly what I said before! Marguerite fell in love with one version of Paul, but the idea of every version of you is something that's important between them. So how does Marguerite's relationship with her!Paul develop from where they are now? I love the idea of Marguerite/Paul, and I would love to read something about the development of their romantic relationship after the events of book one! I'd also really love to read something that sheds more light on their relationship before the book.
Or if that isn't something you're interested in, this book lends itself to so many possibilities: what are other Marguerites and other Pauls doing in other universes? You could use one of the universes mentioned briefly in the book and expand on those characters or create your own.
Request #3: Gallagher Girls Series - Ally Carter
Characters: Abby Cameron, Edward Townsend
The dynamic between these two was one of my favorite dynamics in the series, and they were definitely my favorite romantic ship. I would love to see that explored more, from their past to how they became a couple to how they deal with the revelations we got in United We Spy.
This is 100% a recycled request, but it's a good one which is why I keep coming back to it!
My ideas for what I want fic-wise for these two changed dramatically after United We Spy. I am so happy that they were canon because, well, I am who I am and they were my favorite romantic ship of the series, but I walked away feeling very disappointed because the revelation that Townsend is Zach's father is such a huge thing (and surprise child!! is one of my least favorite tropes) and all we really got nothing after that. Abby was upset. Cammie remarks, "Oh, she'll get over it." And then we see them holding hands at graduation. Something this big deserves (needs, really) to be addressed, and I would love to see that happen. How does Abby deal with it? How does Townsend? How do they go from being upset at the situation (and Abby visibly upset with Townsend in the moments after the reveal) to them holding hands and apparently happy again. How does Zach himself play into any of this? (I would prefer Zach not be the focus of any story about this, but obviously he can come into play when/as needed given that he's obviously a big part of this too or if he needs to have a conversation with Townsend or even Abby.)
If you don't want to deal with this particular issue, though, I would LOVE to read about the history between Abby and Townsend. WHAT HAPPENED IN BUENOS AIRES? How did they become a couple, since that happened completely offscreen? Anything about what's happened in their relationship in the past or anything that happened off page during the series would be fantastic!
For this series, I should say that my other main ship interests are Rachel/Joe and Macey/Preston, so I would prefer that any potential story I get not write against either of those ships if possible.
Request #4: The Wrong Side of Right - Jenn Marie Thorne
Characters: Kate Quinn, Andrew Lawrence
This was a really fun read for me, but I did feel like I wanted a little more focus on the romance between Kate and Andy. I'd love to read something that expands more on the scenes we got in the book or deals with something in their future - whether it's right around the time of the epilogue or if it's years later. Just something that fills in more of the relationship.
There's not much more I need to add to this request! I just want more about the relationship between Kate and Andy, whether it's missing/expanded moments from the book or something from their future. For reference, this is my goodreads review.
Of course, these are all suggestions and if there's some other idea you have, please do not feel constrained by my requests! I'll be thrilled to read whatever you write!
