I suppose I should give this a try

I've been bucking the lj trend long enough, I figure I'll try this out for a while...

And what better warrants a first post than ACL Fest 2005?

This weekend was incredible... for those of you who were there all 3 days or just one of them, 'twas quite fun, non? For those of you who weren't, buy tickets for next year! Do it! No question! I wish I could've heard more bands but seriously, in that heat, I wasn't about to run from stage to stage any more than I had to.

Highlights:
~Spoon, Blue October, Aqualung, The Frames, Widespread Panic, Bloc Party, Oasis, M83, Rilo Kiley, The Bravery, THE ARCADE FIRE, Franz Ferdinand, and Coldplay
~Most incroyable show award goes to Arcade Fire. What an awesome set... who knew there were so many of them? Poor Quebecers (quebecquers? quebequois?) were sweating all over the place through their nice costumes... Régine Chassagne was so cheerful and sweet and chatted with those of us who had assembled for autographs, although she didn't give out but maybe two autographs. I loved the album before this show, now I just like it a bit more.
~The Frames. They were great and they were Irish.
~tasty food
~hanging out with Bobby and Todd alot, my sisters in random places, Saloni during Rilo Kiley, and Celeste in the lemonade line. It was a long lemonade line.
~meeting random folks
~feeling intermittent bursts of joy upon finding patches of shade
~watching my older sister yell at the jerk at the coldplay show who was trying to section off his area with stakes and caution tape. It might bear mentioning that his area was made of about 10 enormous beach towels.
~Coldplay. Was. Fantastic. Plus, Amira wins, Chris Martin is cute, in a funny british way.

Lowlights: (lowlights? downsides? sucky parts?)
~it was HOT. nuff said.
~sunscreen+sweating+dust storms = 65,000 smelly, sticky dust bunnies pushing each other to get each other's spots
~prices of said tasty food (I think I spent close to 30 dollars)
~death cab for cutie. I'm still loyal, and I still adore their music, but for a live show in 103 degree heat, it wasn't lively enough to get anyone excited except the truly emo devotees in the front. Thanks for sticking with me for that show, bobby.
~waiting in line for 30 minutes to get some lukewarm water from a hose. I did that at least 3 times.
~stickers the size of tumbleweeds getting stuck in my heels
~taking off my wristband today

All the inhaled dust and sunburn and allergic reactions to the pollen in Zilker caught up with me today. I woke up and couldn't really breathe right or see straight, so my mom told me to just stay at home. I didn't argue. All in all, everything was so worth it. As Bobby said, if i'm still in Austin next year , I'm definitely coming back to ACL.

wow i doubt i'll ever post that long again, but i just had to get that all out
