Due to a recent...I would call it "betrayal" by one who was supposed to be like family, I have decided to move most of my emotional entries to the "Friends Only" level, so as to decrease any potential ammunition with which to hurt me more, as that is apparently not above his current non-ethical code

Being a "family" thing, you could always leave a horse head in his bed; granted, I know your affinity for such creatures so it might need to be made of either ice, lego's or some stout crunchy peanut butter. Or a squash.
One thing I've learned though - no matter how intelligent or dare I say superior a person thinks they are, if they treat others around them like scum, they're only making it harder for themselves. If you get labeled as pretentious, arrogant or just plain belligerent, you're going to have a tough time getting anything out of everything. It's all about social interaction and people helping each other out. Being boorish or condescending does nothing but interfere with the willingness of others to "help out" and you get left bitter and alone. I've seen it happen many a times. Never hurts to do as much good as you can for people because you never know when you might need help yourself. Frankly, I wouldn’t worry yourself with whatever it is that’s bugging you for that same reason. If they think they’re big enough to take on life on their own, let their own ignorance be their undoing. No amount of intelligence can make up for good ol’ fashion common sense. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. ;-)
