voices in my head
foggy shrouded figures
floating above the hollow ground
filled to the brim
with the corpses of the past
long forgotton
under the veil of the future
blurred in the visions
of childrens nightmares
changed from fairytales
into truths covered over in lies
wrapped in black cloaks
and painted in makeup
to hide the grim
and give a picture of beauty
in the ugly reality of decay
always catching up to the dreams that end
in a cold sweat
and heavy breathing
saoked to the sheets
in tears shed for names in dreams
that cannot be remembered
till the moment they are significant
and enlighten a waking
from ignorance
and shed a light on the dark musty places
inside the attic
of a deceased kins family home
inside the old wooden chests
filled with parchments and papers
and old photographs
from the time when childhood was yesterday
and tomororw was sunny and filled with smiles
before the sickness came
and destroyed the illusions
and the black clothes came out
and blocked out the light
that shone in the sky
above the graveyard
where the ghosts roamed in nightmares
and mothers sang to their children
to keep the tears away
and the crying silent
when the wind blew through the windows nad over the marshes
while the foxes hunted
and the moon smiled from its perch in the sky
a guiding beacon
to the wanderers of the night
forever raoming
without a purpose
and never knowing where to look
for the end of a journey
when they'll come to the bog
where the fog grows thick
and the dark cloaked figures
drift above the ground that isnt there
that we make in our minds
while we sleep and dream
of those things which we know
and those things which we dont
and those thigns which we cant know
as the ground slowly grows firm
and the dark cloaked figures
solidify
and the mist goes away
and the sun peeks out from behind the clouds
and the wind dies down over the marsh
and the foxes catch their prey
and the cildren stop weeping
and the dreams fade away
and sleep ends
and the figures turn into people
and they smile and laugh,
and we enter the world,
awake.
