I was listening to a techno remix by DJ Tiesto, and i definitely recognized the original tune. It was some classical orchestral piece. But i couldnt put my finger on where i heard it before. It sounded like it could have been in any number of somber moments in mainstream movies like Lord of the Rings or the like. I sent the mp3 to some friends, none of them got it. They didnt even recognize it. I spent a while thinking about it.
Well, then it hit me. No, it was no mainstream movie. It wasnt even one of those bad unheard of movies. It was a video game. It was in the opening cutscene of Homeworld.
Why do i make these connections subconciously? My memory, which as some of you know never works properly, remembers details like this?!
Sure enough, i identified the song as Adagio for Strings, and if you check
wikipedia it says the following when you scroll down a bit:
Computer games:
Agnus Dei, the choral version of Adagio for Strings, is heard both in the opening launch sequence and later in the third as well as the last mission of the PC strategy game Homeworld.
...aaaand kill me now.
