This evening I decided to watch a film which's been hanging around unseen in my collection for a while:
The Punisher. It's a film representation of a Stan Lee/Marvel comic, and it's bloody good at that. The Punisher is a man who's out for revenge - his family (literally his entire family - wife, child, mum, dad, brothers, sisters, aunties and uncles) get butchered by Bobby Saint, a crime lord, who must be brought to pay for his sins. Cue very dark characters, graphic fight sequences, and some outstanding make up, in this darker than your average revenge flick. It's definitely a change from the norm - a crazy action film with excellent direction and cinematography. Definitely one to keep!
Tomorrow I'm off to Brighton for Christmas - I'll be working for the whole week though so I have some money to buy Christmas presents. It'll be very nice to get back and see everyone, but I've had quite a lot of fun being in my own little world for the week in Scarborough - I've got some pretty cool documentation down for my top secret project, and there's been a really awesome chance to catch up on films which have been piling up a bit. Winnar!
Recap of films I've seen this week (which I can remember):
- De-lovely; very cool film which documents the life of Cole Porter - musical!
- Blade Trinity; a film which turned out to be a lot better than what you'd think - Ryan Reynolds gives an impressive performance
- The Lost Boys; classic 80's Vampire film!
- National Treasure; the latest Disney film which is actually very accessible and entertaining to adults
- Oceans Twelve; so so. Again the rule that the sequel is never better than the original is proved.
