(camp) once upon a time

Livio's fault.

The boots beat a quick rhythm up the spiraling stairs before clicking to a stop as a door slammed behind the dashing prince. There was a quick tug of the well-worn, creased hat to pull it lower over the pink curls as a mischievous grin grew. "Well, I've made it," declared the prince-to-be. Then the sword at their side was unsheathed and tossed at the boy sitting dumbfounded at the window. The tip clattered on the floor, but he had an awkward hold on the handle before looking up confusedly. "And, now, it's time for you to save yourself! I'm not your prince or princess. You made this tower yourself, so you'll have to break the spell yourself!"

He looked down at the graceful blade before tightening his grip around it. There was a small, returned grin before he took the girl's hand to sweep her out of the way of the coming guards, slashing at the intruders. She pulled in close, brushing his back and closing her hand over his to spin him around to a guard that slipped by him. He held her close to keep her from spilling onto the floor in her boots, keeping step in some awkward parody of a dance. Once they'd stopped, he laughed then took her hand and lead the way down the staircase.

Kizna blinked, confused by the light filling the room which meant she'd slept in by some miracle. She shifted, glancing down at the sharp prod at her side. After a sharp tug, the book that had become nestled between the two of them came free. Kizna gave a small laugh as she skimmed down to the last line, "And they lived happily ever after."
