So I had my first class at Waubonsee today, and it was great! My philosophy teacher is... eccentric... to say the least! He talks about woman, but is obviously gay. He walks, talks, and acts gay. He has these hand gestures and such.. But still a totally cool guy.
First off, he was 10 minutes late today, which he says is normal for every class. Our classroom door was locked and we had to wait in the hall until about 9 for it to get opened. While we're waiting, he tells us that his class is a blow-off class and he's not actually a good teacher. Eventually we go into the classroom and he teaches for about 45 minutes. Then he gives us the syllabus. On the syllabus he has this area where the class objective is listed, and it's numbered 1-5. It says "The student will..." at the beginning of each sentence and after he read all 5 of them he says "I was going to say 'The student will get pissed off' but I thought administration would get mad." And then he laughed. He always laughs at his own jokes, I love people like that! Anywho, he doesn't think that we should be in class for 3 hours cause he doesn't want to teach that long, so we're going to get out between 10 and 10:15 everyday. Also, he thinks that an hour an 45 minutes is too long to sit down, so we're going to be taking a break at 9:30. Our syllabus said that 20% of our grade was supposed to be presentations, but he decided that's too boring and repetitive, so forget them.
Then, someone asked about tests, and he wants us to take only the minimum, because he doesn't like them. So we are going to take the mid-term, which is supposed to be an exam, but he decided he'd rather have us do a take home paper, and the final which is multiple choice.
So another persons asks if this is the kind of class that if you miss 3 days they drop you, and he laughed. He tells us that he knows we have lives outside of class and that we don't go home and dream about philosophy. Then he adds that if if that was the rule, then he wouldn't be allowed to teach the class because he is absent more than that in a semester.
Ok, so on to better, more important things... I had a dream last night about school, and I met a guy named Adam and we started going out and stuff. So today, when I was looking for the class this guy talks to me and asks me if I'm looking for the philosophy room. We get to talking and stuff, mostly about the class in general, and then the teacher comes so we stop talking. At the end of class, the teacher took attendence and guess what... HIS NAME WAS ADAM!!! Coincidence?! I hope not!!
Well, that's all for now!!
Much Love,
RachyLou
