Bath Time!
Today I washed my dog. I haven't washed my dog in several years because he is so disagreeable. I'm such a bad pet parent. I'm ashamed. I took him to the vet a couple of weeks ago. He had a huge bald spot on his neck. The vet told me it was dermititis and gave me a spray for him. The vet brought my attention to a second and a third spot. He asked me when was the last time he was bathed. I lied and said three months prior.
So eventually my dogs dermititis has cleared up but now I notice that he's digging at another spot near his tail. I realized that there was a pattern. Whenever I go walking with him through a certain area he scratches himself like crazy. Something is aggravating his skin. Today I decided to get him some actual shampoo and a scrubber that can also be a brush! Normally my dog fights and runs away. But when I started to brush him he stood stock still and was wagging his tail. It must have felt good to him! Good. So he won't be too anxious about the water. He hates all kinds of sounds, particularly the water hose so I ended up using a huge tupper tub full of water to bathe him. And of course after I've washed him, he shakes the water off.... and rolls in the dirt in another part of the yard.... And starts scratching! I hope this is normal behavior. I'm going to check on him tomorrow and see if he's been scratching at the same spot.
