After having a nightmare about one of my old co-workers attacking me, I woke up and no matter how hard I tried I could not fully wake up. I think this was a continuation of how I was feeling yesterday. I went out late last night to Applebees with my girlfriends for half off appetizers. Didn't touch a drop of alchohol yet the way I felt this morning I felt like I had downed a very strong long island. Super groggy! I was being compelled to stay in bed even though I was ready to get today started. I would keep drifting off to sleep and pieces of the nightmare would replay again causing me even more fear and discomfort. I would think I was awake and try to move around only to find out that that I was only imagining it! I was in that realm between asleep and awake.
The only way way I'd wake up was if I opened my window and let the natural sunlight come in and rouse my internal clock. BINGO!! Sitting up I shook my head hard trying to clear the grogginess. No Bueno. The only other solution now? Jogging. Without a second thought I immediately got up, stretched and threw on my jogging clothes. Grabbed my MP3 player and told my parents I'd be in the neighborhood. I didn't run the entire 2 miles. The first mile I ran hard trying to get away from "it". Eventually it relinquished its hold. I guess because I purposely caused myself pain (lungs, heart) in order to focus on something else. AFter I finished, I decided I'd walk with my dog too since he was looking at me so pitifully as I kept passing by. Grabbed his leash and took him for a jog around the neighborhood.
After all that, I still have some pieces of the nightmare trying to infiltrate my thoughts but all in all, I'm much better. Not 100% but better than I was.
