I am a Pdf/Excel Monkey

Work is becoming less slack and busier as my bosses start hanging around in the office. Gone are the days where it's just Daniel and me in the office - International Sales & Distribution is now Stephen, Dawn, Jacq, Daniel and I (and soon to be - Pat). I'm starting to miss the tranquility I've become accustomed to in the office - it's becoming noisier as people talk more (as opposed to emailing each other orders/requests), phones ring simultaneously (and people answer at the same time - or the phone rings while people talk!), the printers are used more, etc, you get the picture. I also miss the emptiness of the place - I can no longer stand up and stretch in the middle of my work and wander over the big glass windows and just stare at the city and clouds.

I also don't have as much time to blog and email while I'm at work. Most of the time, I'm usually an Adobe Acrobat monkey or an Excel monkey. It can get menial at times but I just tell myself I'm acquiring new skills along the process. One day, knowing how to create PDFs and spreadsheets will come in handy.

I had lunch with a bunch of SMU Pinoys today (the lone NUS Pinoy among the SMU ones haha) and it turns out that all the interns are pretty much experiencing the same thing. It's just impossible for companies to give interns TOO much work because you cannot expect them to assume the responsibilities of regular employees. For instance, I can't represent the firm to clients because I'm just not credible enough. And since my department is Sales and Distribution and it mostly deals with Client Relations, there's really not much I can do except help make my bosses lives' easier.

BUT on the bright side - there's a nice paycheck coming in soon and I -never- have work to bring home so weeknights and weekends are free to do whatever I please.

heigh-ho
