No Rum?

Dec 29, 2007 18:58

I suppose the last time I got drunk on my own cooking I left an impression, huh? But...why? I can't cook with alcoholic alcohol anymore?

Is it genuine concern or irritation...I wonder...well aside from the hangover I had fun. I'm not an alcoholic or anything...still...it was good.

I cannot prohibit you from cooking with alcohol, since I am neither your father or your housemate -- though if Mr. Leonhart is your housemate, then I'm sure he could be more effective than I in seeing to it that the alcohol is either eliminated or carefully rationed.

In any case, we are concerned for you, and for your well-being. And food can be made quite edible even when it doesn't give off enough potentially flammable alcohol fumes to ignite at the slightest spark.

At the least -- if you feel you need alcohol, keep someone with you, all right? If you drink, or if you cook and keep sampling so much, make sure that someone sober is there with you to provide the judgement that you're going to lack in that state...

Well the thing of it is with the eggnog I got a little carried away, I admit that...wont say it wasn't fun. The hangover taught me a lesson though so even if I do sample I'll remember to spit XD

I usually can't tell if people are concerned about me or irritated, I have a habit of rubbing people the wrong way. I mean well, you know, most times. I understand though, If something bad happened like you said. And well...most would say moderation isn't in my vocabulary. Still the eggnog was more of an accident...but rum and wine when cooked down can really make a great sauce which is why I like to use it.

I could always spit too! Ahem...yeah...well. At least, you know, I know you're not irritated with me. That's cool and I'll be careful next time.

Sorry, chickenpie. Hate to break it to you, but you're well on the road to becoming a bona fide drunkard.

Am not! I over did it once with the eggnog, but remember there was caffeine in it too! I like to use it because it's a good cooking tool!

You've had the first taste of the Devil's champaigne. I'd have to wonder how long it'll be before you're chasing after the demon of the bottle.

You must've used an awful lot. Mind sharing your recipe? Usually the effects of alcohol are worn away by the process.

Well I wasn't exactly cooking with it...erm...per se...I was testing out some eggnog recipes and got carried away. It's easier to do that when the drinks taste good and the alcohol is a bit undetectable. I wouldn't mind. Yeah usually it gets cooked out and your left with like a flavored sauce or whatever, but with making drinks it's a bit a little different.

Oh, I see... And eggnog is a drink, yes? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it.
