Cleopatra

So, the classic Elizabeth Taylor/Rex Harrison Cleopatra film has been playing off and on at my house for the last few days (It's 4 hours long.). I've watched a bit. Has a decided "Spartacus vibe" given the time it was made. And certainly, I'm not going to argue historical accuracy. That said, I find Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra downright odd. The understanding I have is that Cleopatra was... rather forceful, personality-wise; and Elizabeth Taylor is so... kitten-ish with her breathy voice. Bizarre. Honestly, I probably could have bought Marilyn Monroe in the role better (although she was dead...), as she seems somewhat more complex than Taylor?

...I don't think it's one that I'll ever actually watch the entirety of.

The costumes are fun, though. I will give it that. At one point someone (possibly Antony?) had on a shiny teal and leopard print ensemble. Pretty excellent. I wish *that* was historically accurate.
