I feel responsible and loved by kids. & that's a great feeling. ;)

So today I started volunteering at the two art camps, Colours and Imagination, and Nature and Imagination. With a lack of excitement, I arrived at the art gallery to check in around 8:30am this morning. Then I went to the McKay Centre to set up and wait for the little kids to arrive. I met my morning camp's instructor, Alyssa, who looked too young to be teachig. Then the little five----six years old boys and girls showed up one by one and started their first project, tracing their hand and then colouring it all over the page. (We also went around introducing everyone and their favourite things ;))At first, there were these two little boys who were crying and wouldn't let their mother leave because they were so shy. But then after a while, one of the boy let his mother go and decided to have some fun drawing instead. This left little five years old, Johnathan, the only boy who still has his mother with him after the camp had started an hour ago. Johnathan felt extremely insecure when his mother finally decided to run away to leave Johnathan to play with other kids. As a result, Johnathan cried for the next hour by the door looking out through the window screaming for his mother. We tried convincing him in everyway possible but he didn't want to draw at all. The next project was fun, the litte kids each got a sketch book we made for them and they were supposed to glue colourful tissue paper all over the cover to decorate it. That took for at least an hour and a half but the kids did an amazing job decorating their covers :D. During that time, I also got to know three, four kids better! I got to teach Laura (shy girl who smiles all the time), Anastasia (blondie who thinks she sucks at drawing), Matthew (I favour him the most because he's such a lazy and funny dude), Nicholas (copies everything Matt does), Carson (little boy on an adventure to look for snails in the backyard of the art gallery) and Grace (cute girl who wants a hug! *hugs*). The kids were very fun to be with! They absolutely love the volunteers and demands hugs and holding hands ;), they also love running around in the backyard during snack time :D.

They're a bunch of cute and hyper five, six years old kids!

Well, if you still remember about Johnathan after reading about all the other kids, good job. He managed to stay tear-less without his mother for maybe one hour or so, and did some artwork. Then, he cried again...

His mother, who knew little Johnathan wouldn't be able to survive without her showed up extra early to pick up his wonderful son. Johnathan was well delighted to see his mother once again.

The first day of colours and imagination ended and I talked with the volunteer supervisor, went to get a cup of vanilla latte and had a short fifthteen minute break by myself until Rae showed up with his rollerblades :D

I got to know another bunch of kids from the nature camp and they love hugging and holding hands a lot too even if they're an older bunch. These kids ranges from six to ten years old. Anastasia, who was from my morning class happened to show up for the afternoon class as well. What a tough girl, two art camps a day? She later grew bored of art and ran around the park later on when we went out to sketch. One cool blondie with her slight attitude towards artistic expressions.

I also met this lovely girl, Dana (spanish/chinese girl who's allergic to cats), who sat on my lap for the last hour or so while she was colouring her "nature comic". She drew a pair of birds in search of the "green island" hahaha. she kept on whispering in my ear saying, "i really really really really really really really like you." when she was sitting on my lap. Having Dana telling me she likes me encouraged these two other girls to tell me they like me too. Heck, I'm popular :DDD HAHAHAHA. It creeped me out a little because I don't remember myself as a kid liking a volunteer from an art camp. Thanks Dana for her mini Oreos! :)

I don't remember any more from this camp. So obviously, I enjoyed the morning camp more because they're cool with their inability-to-do-anything-themselves, and little Matthew being lazy and cute at the same time.

I got home after bussing with Rae from the art gallery. :) I immediately fell asleep after a few check on the computer this afternoon. When I woke up, I decided to do something I meant to do for a long time now; sew my super hero, Button's left eye back in place so he can see again. Maybe I'll show my super cool sock monkey off tomorrow in front of the kids. :D

Crap, I better go fold some origami incase I need to cheer any sad kid tomorrow. :)

Kids love me, HA.
