Last Saturday I went to
King's Dominion. For those friends of mine who don't live in Virginia, I'll tell you that's Paramount's King's Dominion, home to the "largest drop ride in North America," "the only compressed-air launch coaster in the United States," and "the first stand-up roller coaster on the east coast." It's sort of boring there. This time I went at night, which was interesting and mildly surreal. The park normally closes at 8pm, but we were there for a special event, so the lines were really short and we got to ride everything twice. That picture is me and this guy Brett, who I know through OtherzachZach. We found some awesome hats.
I won't go on Drop Zone anymore. That's the ride that sends you hurtling toward the ground at a speed faster than free-fall. I felt kind of like a stodgy old lady sitting outside the fence around the ride, waiting. An acre of glowing stuffed animals was looking down at me, and I was thinking, "weird." How fluorescent and American.
I'm going to start working on my Jet Programme application on Monday. For those friends of mine who do live in Virginia, I'll tell you that's the job I'm planning on getting when I graduate. If I'm accepted, I'll be taking off for Japan in spring of 2006 to become one of those silly gaijin English teachers for a few years. Maybe some of you have heard Jet isn't so great, but I prefer to tolerate the inevitable organizational stupidity just to have the reassurance of a place to stay and a job to work at right when I get there. I can always finish up my contract and just go do my own thing eventually.
Deciding what to do with your life is such a hassle.
