Arashi ni Shiyagare SP 2016.01.01 - Ohno Omotenashi Ryoukan part
Happy New Year! While we're still in the festive mood, which soon to be over, let's star 2016 with Arashi ni Shiyagare SP. I find that only Matsujun & Ohno's segments are interesting, and the rest is mediocore if not boring (unless off course, you're a fan of Japanese baseball or Miranda Kerr. And this segment deserves caps because V6 Mama is one of the guests and he cooked! As on the surprise announcement done in this segment, well, I'm not sure, really. I don't feel lots of traction on the last few Arashi drama, not the kind that I'll wait expectantly for the next episode. So, anyway, enjoy the first few days of 2016!
Happy New Year! And we have Ohno sliding from the hill and he cannot really stop himself and hit the boxes XD.
Ohno was in Snow Town Yetti in Shizuoka perfecture.
Ohno: today somehow we're in the ski place. I don't like being normal. This time I've been thinking about what we'll do for Arashi Ryoukan.
And then Ohno went and meet his guests, V6's Nagano and HSJ's Inoo Kei.
After exchanging New Year greetings & pleasantries, we're down to business.
Nagano commented that for the omonetashi, they're here while Inoo chimed that this is the first time they have this 3 people combi.
Both of them have been wondering why both of them. What do they have in common?
So, last year, we have Johnny's Riidaa gathering, so this year we're going to have artist (takumi) gathering.
And now we have Ohno's way of classifying artistry. Nagano is the kind who patronizing more than 1000 shops every year, so he's the meal artist, while Inoo went to study architecture, so he's the construction artist.
But Inoo honestly not sure because all he did was went to the uni. LOL I like his honesty here.
Actually there's 1 more person who's supposed to come, NEWS' Shige since he's published novels.
I think Ohno said something along the line that if Shige is not coming, it's not foregiven (?). Anybody think so?
We look forward to the Johnny's Artist gathering.
Nagano hinted that we've come to the cold place.
Inoo: we're not going to ryokan?
Ohno: No, we're not going to ryokan, so we're going to build a snow hut (kamakura), and inside it they're going to have a meal, and chat.
On the background, Sho-chan: Childhood dream.
Nagano showed the hesitation, but didn't blatantly reject, coz he's the nice senpai LOL.
Inoo was somehow excited about the idea.
Apparently the guests thought that when Ohno said kamakura, that kamakura is already there.
Ohno: from now on we're going to make it from scratch.
Nagano: by Ohno?
Ohno: Everybody!
So in the cold winter night, they're going to build kamakura. But before that...
Before we have the kamakura built, Ohno asked Ino to have the drawing up.
Inoo: Now?
Ohno: we don't have much time!
So, Inoo made an Iglo drawing. And because they don't have much time, Inoo just have to be content with paper & pencils (no fancy 3D simulator apps).
While Inoo try his best to explain why he's drawing Iglo (he mentioned that because he wanted a more secured & no need to dig, plus more stylish), Ohno smirked (guess he found it entertaining knowing the script) while Nagano sounded more encouraging. Then, we have the official explanation on the difference between Iglo and kamakura, Iglo is built using ice blocks while kamakura is built by digging.
Then Inoo continued that afterwards, they'll dig small holes to emulate windows, so it'll look like a lantern with lights from the inside.
With that, we're back to action, and it's 2C cold *shiver*.
Inoo: Are you not super cold?
The uncles supporting them recognized the iglo straight away and explained that lately there's not many snow, so with that, if we want to build a nice kamakura, we need to make blocks, hence, iglo.
So, they started making the blocks by dumping snow into the plastic carts and using feet, solidify it into blocks.
Nagano finished his & everybody commented that it's pretty (it's the FIRST blocks).
And afterwards, they continue making blocks and Nagano: this is absolutely not hospitality, what's this Ohno!
And they're probably almost faint when uncle said that they should need 120-130 blocks for the iglo.
Ohno: this is bad!
Then after making the blocks, they have to line up the blocks and smoothen them up.
Ohno: it's finished....
.... the 1st layer, that is.
Inoo: just first layer and it's this exhausting.
... no pain no gain? LOL
And after 20 minutes, they finished the 2nd layer. And all of them went inside and tested the feel of it. They all were excited that the WIND did not go in.
While the 3 of them felt the not-yet-an-iglo, Shige (the member who's still fresh) arrived.
Nagano: I thought you're an illusion! LOL
Now we have the complete group!
And now Nagano had to go make the meal, and we almost didn't make it.
Nagano: (faking it) But I want to (continue) build the kamakura.
Both Shige & Inoo had bitter smile, they knew what's coming LOL.
True enough, Ohno was going to company Nagano making the meal while the other 2 built the rest.
Shige: Can I also go there (to Ohno's team)?
Inoo interupted that Shige was definitely building the kamakura, and if it's somebody to go making the meal is him because he's been building the kamakura.
Shige: but you're the architect, so...
Inoo: no, it's OK since there's the kamakura uncle
Shige: Ohno, he don't want to do it! what's with this talking back KOUHAI!
LOL, all of them are brats!
And we have this do working hard!
Since it's cold (obviously), Ohno suggested to have a warm meal inside the kamakura and Nagano said it's not gonna be salad.
So, Nagano suggested stew, the perfect (kanzen) stew.
Why it's called the perfect stew?
Nagano: Have you ever heard the umami components? Those like glutamic acid, there are 4 of them and we'll have all of them in that stew. With that the umami will have a multiplying effect.
But first they need to take off the gloves first LOL.
First we have the ingrdients: Onion, carrots, kabocha, brocolli and shiitake. *the stock only have onion, carrots & kabocha, save the brocolli & shiitake for the latter part.*
Ohno asked Nagano whether he cooks. Nagano had cooking instructor license (wow, he got A LOT of licenses for a Johnny's, vegetable sommelier, big trucks license are those that I know so far, now this!).
Cook the cut veggies for about 20 minutes. and then add milk and cheese.
Then Nagano started to explain on the 4 umami component. They are Shitake (guanylic acid), cheese (glutamic acid), salmon (inosinic acid) and clams (succinic acid). Especially for inosinic & glutamic acid to be in, it'll exponentially add the umami.
And then add parmesan cheese and white miso, then add shiitake, smoked salmon, clams & brocolli and lastly, add the cornstartch mixed with water to thicken the stew up.
Ohno: I want to be with Nagano-kun, always.
BTW, Ohno, you didn't do anything at all, huh? Nagano was the one doing all the cutting and you just stand there nearby the stove warming yourself up.
And they went to help the other 2.
Building the top layers was not easy, the blocks can fall off, so you'd need to really place it properly.
It also include sprinkling Inoo with snow, the snow went inside Shige's jacket, and off course, Inoo's hand stuck in the iglo.
The iglo was done, finally!
And then Ohno instigated something. It started with Ohno saying Shige do not have the air of an artist. Shige also felt that he didn't fit here.
Ohno: that's why now, in here you do the narration.
Shige: but writing novel and narration is totally different!
but you'd think ohno cared LOL
Ohno: just do it, maybe you'll get to understand a new art.
So, while the other 3 doing the window, Shige will be doing the narration and being completely ignored too.
Shige: Under the winter sky, while the moon is vaguely seen and hazy snow, the guys were absorbed building the kamakura. While enduring the snow, with all their might, they exercised their body. There's a reason for them to do this. It's to encouraged Inoo who's dumped by his girlfriend at the end of 2015.
*in the background but LOUDER than the narration*
Nagano: should it be bigger?
Ohno: How was the window?
Inoo: Since we already did it, already have some of them, just open them up.
Ohno: are, where's Shige?
Inoo: shit, I got dumped.
Shige (continue narration): for the sake of encouraging Inoo, the 2 of them gathered up a kind words of encouragement.
Nagano & Ohno: (half heartedly) Ganbare! There're such time too!
Shige: Inoo who's strucked by the words, firmly looked into senpai's face.
Ohno: Don't look!
Ohno: when their eyes met, Ohno also got strucked.
Shige: Both of them then naturally came closer, and then hugged each other.
*Baby Yuto LOL is adding to the whole LOL*
Shige: their lips came closer

Ohno: I ain't doing it!
Finaly the kamakura is fully completed, and it looks so nice!
Everybody was so happy when they went inside because it's so warm compared to outside.
Shige: it's a cozy room, ne. The wind doesn't go through, but occassionally the snow fell, though.
When they did kanpai, Nagano: we're finally starting?
Inoo: it has the feeling of the ending.

Shige: if we didn't build the kamakura...
Ohno: I was touched
Nagano: if we were straight away do the talking, probably the tention was different.
Ohno: when the 4 of us as 1 did it, it formed a bond.
This is seriously looks good!!!
Everybody was so happy eating.
Shige asked Nagano which one he prefer, eating out or cooking your own food.
Nagano: eating out is probably faster.
Inoo: which is the no 1 shop you've been making reservation from long ago?
Nagano: now there's 1, I made the reservation on a shop from 4 years ago.
Ohno: what shop is that?
Nagano: sushi shop.
Ohno: is it on the countryside?
Nagano: it's on the city. The reservation was written in 10 years old notebook.
Shige: 10 years old notebook must be really thick!
Ohno then brought up Nagano's usual story of cullinary advanture. In the past, Sakamoto asked Nagano that he wanted to eat meat. Both of them then went to stock farm and had BBQ there.
Shige then asked Ohno whether he felt hungry when he's consentraton on his artwork. Ohno didn't think so, he usually forgot to eat.
Ohno then asked Shige back whether it's the same with him.
Shige did his own cooking when he's on the break. He then continued that it'll be troubling if he's not exercising, so he's limiting his calories intake. And since he's cooking for himself, then he knows. However, during the time he's limiting his calories intake, he's personality went bad. There's this tardy member, and he becomes frustrated, as he's been working hard.
Shige then mentioned that on he's day off, he can write 4000 characters, in paper, it's around 10 pages and he'd feel good when it's done.
There're also writer's block time, right? To Shige, even though there were times like that, he still have to make it. He'll sit and somehow ganbatte...
Nagano: and then the ghost writer...
no no, Shige doesn't have ghost writer.
Shige then asked Ohno whether he's also sometimes blocked on his drawing. Ohno said that when he's blocked, and he didn't understand, he'll went back, get sake and look at it, and then he'll notice something.
Is it me or the way Ohno's speaking is not flowy, maybe it's because my Japanese is not that good, hmm.
The conversation then continued to Inoo.
Shige: Inoo surely had the same situation before during college days.
Ohno: why architecture? do you have interest?
Inoo: When I's in highschool, I thought that working in Johnny's may not bring food to the table because there're 9 people in HSJ. If I were to go out, what kind of place I'll be working at.
Nagano: then why it's architecture?
Inoo: since I was young, I liked to build things. If I were talking about the closest thing, it'll be concert stage, I thought that I may be able to add value in that space.
Ohno: Have you done it before?
Inoo: not yet
Inoo: it maybe sound rude, but we went to V6's concert, right? I can see Yoyogi Stadium's structure better than V6.
Nagano: the lighting people maybe just looking at it when they go there.
I like how all the senpai encouraging Inoo to try out.
Nagano even suggested to take part of it because doing the whole thing will be hard.
Ohno: You've done the kamakura.
I look forward for the future stage by Inoo Kei <3.
One thing about Ohno that I don't really fancy is when he talked to his kouhai, he has this lofty air. Granted that he's full of talents, but I don't think it's a good thing to air that to the kouhais, because for all you know everybody is honing their own skills, even Inoo is working hard to find his niche. Or, maybe it's just his speaking style, no ill intention, who knows.
Then how about the wish list for 2016?
Nagano wanted to go to Spain.
He's been there for other jobs, but not for the cullinary adventure (YES, NAGANO! That's what I want to do too!!)
What about Inoo? In 2015, he's matching his field of study with his current job and was able to come up with machine case (??) and he hoped that he'll get to be known as the architect idol and aim to find a place for that.
After this episode? I think more people will know or at least remember Inoo Kei.
For Shige, NEWS has the new variety called Kawarabo. Finally?
For Ohno, he'd like to make art which takes year to complete. He thought maybe 3 years is a good time length.
And the staff dropped the bomb. The rest thou.ght it's probably something not good and thought it's related to art.... not really..
Ohno will have a Spring drama. He'll be a ni-daime ryoukan worker (i guess), and it's a romcom!
Apparently not that classified information anymore.
Obviously Ohno has never done romcom before, and it's not that he volunteered to do so.
So, we'll have 35 y.o dude doing his first romcom in Spring.
I guess he has a few months to actually take some lessongs from MJ? especially on Kissing scene!
