So I have seen CM-K version advertised and thought that it was some other thing titled similar, but from the trailer ... oops I saw that I was mistaken and it really is a K version of Criminal Minds.
Of course ... people have come to expect pretty, pretty from K-versions of anything.
From a fan ... looks like the first case they tackle is from the pilot episode of CM eleven years ago. EVERYONE though is 20 times prettier, 20 times slimmer.
Especially if you take Penelope Garcia from the original. Definitely prettier and slimmer. BUT Penelope Garcia is an amazing person with w strong personality that glues everyone together. You'll have to tell me if their tech person does the same.
Dr Spencer Reid. Now from the trailers there was absolutely no one that would qualify as the geek with three PhD's and an eidetic memory. Bad hair, bad skin, bad fashion sense. Only because ... well Koreans don't know about bad hair, bad skin and bad fashion sense. And certainly that cutscene from the train (another case where Reid is the main protagonist - if that guy is supposed to be Reid ... then he fails immediately, because there is no way Spencer Reid would ever do such a thing. He just wouldn't. He will think things through and crashing and burning through everything is simply not his way)
Too many alpha males in the K-version right off the bat ... whoooh testosterone overload.
The showrunner for CM is female, three of the writers are female. Female representation is quite good on the show ... even compared to other long running shows such as Law and Order: SVU. There is a balance in the 'family' dynamics of CM ... which is what keeps me going back year after year for eleven plus years. They're in their twelfth season this year.
... and yes as with any real working relationship, off screen there have been problems too, but they managed so far to keep dynamics tight.
Of course it IS K-drama, so the tears, the in-fighting, the whatever-else will be amped up more of course. Probably the crime will be more gruesome and more bloody. Even if the cases are the same. It'll be interesting to see your verdict.
I could possibly write a thesis on it. I love the show so damn much, it's my guilty pleasure. I don't flail too much about it but ohhh ... I should probably post this somewhere ...
Please don't be angry with me, but yeah CM is close to my heart, it's a very well made, well written show with characters I've grown to love over the years (because yeah after 11 years, the crimes isn't what I go back to it for). It's a family dynamic that they've had to grow with and adapt to over the years too and what I love about it is that perhaps sneakily I actually didn't realise this until I wrote this but yes females figure strongly in this show and perhaps that's part of the allure too. And they're strong kick ass (not in the literal kicking doors down sense, although a few of them do) chicks who hold their own and in their respective roles, better than the men in their team.
Probably to a CM fan, CM K.0 version has a lot of big shoes to fill.
BUT ... that aside ...
TOMAAAAAAAA!!!! He's looking mighty fine! *swoons* - now put him on a Criminal Minds team and because I AM shallow, I'll forgive them anything! Ahahahaha!
haloooo, omg i think this is the longest comment u wrote me in a very long time lol! i like the us version of criminal minds too but not enough to watch every single season n esp after the geek (i dont temember the characters' names) turned bad.
yeah korean version pretty much pretty everything up, thats why at first i was apprehensive about this, though i'll be watching coz of lee jun ki, they already stated in the press conference that thete's no romance so it's serious stuff from the get go. i just hope they dont do stupid stuff like thowing the female characters to the sideline or change the cool girls to typical damsel in distress midway in the drama, they did that in a number of drama this year, so... cross finger
will give u update on this one, but i dont think i'll do caps coz what to cap lol, all bloody n griesome images... shudders...
