Can stress actually cause physical symptoms?

Last weekend, I had the most terrible pain in my legs and feet.  The bones in my feet felt very brittle.  All night I kept waking up because my muscles would seize but not painfully.  (I.E. my big toe would get stuck behind my little toe and wouldn’t come back out.)

By time I got to my mom’s house I was very close to tears it was hurting that bad.  I could pinch my right leg and could feel the pressure but no pain.  I was also having a hard time walking.  My mom worked my legs and gave me some Aleve and a pain pill.  I seemed to bounce back a few hours later after a long nap.

Since then the pain hasn’t been quite so severe.   My feet still feel very brittle and now that brittle feeling is moving into my hands.  It hurts to bend them.   I woke up all off and on last night because my shoulder was hurting and kept popping.

Physically I haven’t done anything.  Due to the hours I’ve been logging, I haven’t worked out in almost two weeks.

The only thing different is the amount of stress I’m going through with my job.  At the surface level, I’m handling it and everything is meeting expectation (I only cry on the way home from work, so holding it together there).  Doing two jobs is draining me for sure but could it translate to physical symptoms?

I would give a lot for a good nights rest and for me feet to stop hurting.
