Porcelain; NC17; River/Jayne

Mar 06, 2008 22:13

Title: Porcelain
Fandom: Firefly
P/C: Rayne (!), hints of Jaylee and Mal/River
Rating: NC17
Summary: River likes the way Jayne looks at her.
A/N: Seriously NOT fluff. To me these characters as a pair will NEVER be fluff. And this might be a one time thing, so enjoy it.

Jayne knew that he couldn’t break her.

That is so very true.

Everyone seems to fall into the rut of writing River as delicate and tiny when she really isn't at all.

One reason I am not big on Jayne/River. Or River anyone for that matter. I mean, I feel like she can be soft and so forth and may even enjoy some romantical stuff (Note the bit about Mal) but there are definitely other sides to her as well.

Thanks for commenting! This is my first (and possibly only) foray into Rayne.

I'm sorry hear you're not big into Rayne, you write it very well. While delicate!River is certainly a stereotype, there are many good stories where she isn't written that way.

Oh, I liked this. I can't quite pin down the exact reason why, but I know I like it.

I think it's a combination of the fact that what you've written here is sooooo true to her character and how much emotion you packed into so little writing. She's not a child and she's more than capable of handling herself, yet everyone seems to treat her as if it's the opposite, except Jayne. Good bit of writing, love.

So doesn’t this mean you’re no longer squicked? Because this was pretty hot.

I really like the deeper insight in to River’s desires, pinpointing exactly why she would crave a man like Jayne. Sometimes girlish River annoys me and overly dark River just seems off. I think you’ve struck the right balance here.

She would let out a sigh and tilt her head to the side and Simon would give her a look of utter perplexity.

Oooh, I love this image, it would be like River to fantasize in plain sight. Thanks for the dose of realism, believe it or not, I do prefer it over romanticism. And if you can blend the two, you’re a god. ; )

*does dance because you reviewed*

I think River is a tough character to write in general. People like to forget that she is, as Mal stated "a person, actal and whole"

This sort of came to me in a flash and was kind of inspired by one of bookaddict43's pieces, the one about the wings.

Realism = FANTASTIC! lol. Not that I don't mind the odd piece of fluff every now and then. Just like real life ^^

I only read this because you wrote it and I wub you, but I have to admit that it's good. Even though it's Rayne.

I enjoyed your take on the River mindset.
I can see it too. Very good writing BTW.
I would like to see more like this.
