Title: Persephone Goes Home
Author: danniisupernova
Prompt: Sharon/Boomer; bomb
Rating/Warnings: PG
Spoilers: AU from Rapture.

Whenever she looks at Sharon, she always feels a little shattered. It’s as if a pieces of some life size mirror are everywhere. There are so many Eights. But she can always recognize her. It’s as if she can smell her old life on her.

Boomer tries not to think of being human. She repeats it to herself like a mantra Cylon, Cylon, Cylon. She knows that the other Cylons have noticed this shift in her since Sharon had returned. She knows what they’re planning. Boomer wonders if Sharon will stand up for her. She wonders if she’ll accept it quietly, if she’ll be glad to have all of this over with.

Ever since Sharon had given up her life on Galactica to be with her daughter, she tries to give up thinking of herself as human. Seeing her own face everywhere helps. She sees Boomer watching her. She sees the look in her eyes. You stole my life. You all did. I’m not one of you.

Sharon doesn’t want to sympathize with her, but she does. It is Their way, the other Eights would tell her. Everyday Boomer slides farther away from the collective. She knows they will box the other her soon. Sometimes she dreams that she is boxed with Boomer and their memories and consciousness swirl together, pain and love, failure and victory, Tyrol and Helo, body and soul. They would blend, finally, perhaps becoming the person everyone wishes they were. She wakes up from these dreams sweating and afraid.

When they finally decided to shut her up and never let her out (a painstaking decision for the other Eights, who want to love Boomer, but simply do not understand her isolation) she doesn’t fight. Sharon is there watching, stony eyed.

Boomer knows that she doesn’t need to ask Sharon for anything. Her last wishes are in her head as well. Sharon sits by the tank, holding her sister’s hand. She tells her that she loves her, and that they will see each other again soon, if not in the afterlife then in the bright, hollow darkness.

Boomer's hand goes limp as the light in the tank dies. Sharon fights back tears, knowing that they should be together in this now, the same person they were supposed to be. She thinks of her daughter waiting for her on the main deck. She turns and leaves her predecessor behind for the last time.
