Don't even bother to read this shit
I'm sick and tired of hearing about how all people are basically good and honest.
I have no honest opinion about the nature of man, but I don't believe that society totally corrupts us, and I certainly don't believe that people are born malicious.
It's just that the vast majority of people lack any kind of compassion or understanding toward anyone else.
Not that I want to jump on my high horse and lecture to the cyber world of Livejournal about how I am the only one left in the world with the capacity to understand that not everyone operates the way that I do...
...but why is it that so many of us have this mentality that if people do things differently than us, then their methods must be incorrect?
Maybe it's just because I make a hobby out of reading/watching people. It sounds ridiculous and obnoxiously haughty...but I can read most people that I've met like a book. I can uncover all sorts of hidden insecurities, agendas, and personality traits no matter how well they are masked.
That's because the mask is usually the tell. It's like in poker...when somebody flops trip aces, makes a big heavy sigh and a frowny face, checks, and then calls your reasonably high bet - no matter how big of a show they put on, you know damn well they got the cards they want.
Well everyone is like that. Not that poker should be reflecting life of course...but since it is the game of reading people, I guess on some level it sort of makes sense.
As far as I can see it, if you can read peoples' motivations before anyone tells you what they are, then there's absolutely no reason that you shouldn't be able to understand their faults in some form or another.
Like if you know that someone lies constantly because they have this inescapable desire to be wanted/loved no matter what the cost...then sure you're going to be annoyed everytime they lie because no one likes to be lied to...but at the same time, it would be more helpful to both of you for you to avoid the negativity of jumping straight to hatred in order to give the other person what they need and let the lies stop.
Ugh. This is the most pointless fucking rant I have ever written in my life and I'm going to stop now.
