On top of the world

It seems life is pretty swell at the moment.  I had a wonderful Saturday night with friends, which was followed by a Sunday spent beautifying my yard (thanks again Abby!), and I just got the best news ever after a 4 hour meeting.  The meeting was about forming a new program (medical informatics for any interested) where I work, and it turns out that the big project I have been working on (and what my grant that's due next week is about) will be the pilot project for this program.  That's great news in and of itself because it means the project will get a major kick-start in all the database aspects that I know nothing about, and are currently the main stumbling block for someone else.  Right after that news, I was told by my future chairman that I will be appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor in his department.  This had me jumping for joy (quite literally in my heals).  I have no clue about the specifics, but he said he had just put my appointment letter in the mail and wanted to introduce himself to me (I only just met him at the meeting, and was only told about this opportunity a week & a half ago).  So, I'm one happy camper at the moment, and life is grand :)
