Today could have been a whole lot more awkward
I'm considering upgrading to a Plus account, what do you think? I don't think I'm going to do a Paid account, mostly b/c I don't think I update enough to pay for one. *g* But I have to be honest, I only want an upgrade to get more icons. I'm a sad, sad girl.
Is it just me, or has this week been incredibly long?
Anywho, in class this morning we began analyzing ads and photos; we had to bring in a picture. I took mine out of a Rolling Stone issue from several years ago. In the background, there are four people playing chicken in a pool; girls on top, guys as the bases. I'm in front of the class with my professor and we're both pointing out the sex appeal of this picture; that sex sells. He was like 'anyone other than myself or Amanda thinking with a dirty mind about this picture?' No one said a word. There are not many times I feel an age gap between myself and the other students, but today was definitely one of them! There is a lot of ground in our five year difference. At first I was kind of shocked, but then I remembered my mind didn't fall into the gutter until I hit about 20. I blame you Ariel! You introduced me to the world of fandom and slash, and it has sullied my brain. ;o) I was so pure before I met you (hey, don't roll your eyes at me, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it, lol). The print in the ad had the word squeeze in bold letters, and we were discussing how that also plays into the sex appeal. I was like, well the girls hands are clasped, so squeezing' but maybe I didn't have to relate the sex and the squeezing to the fact that the guys' heads are in between the girls' thighs. He was like 'if this makes you uncomfortable, you not going to like Monday's class.' I love this guy! I wouldn't be surprised if half the class is absent on Monday. It was kind of weird, I was more comfortable talking about sex in front of the class than I would have been sitting in my desk, and I totally hate speaking in front of people. Maybe it was b/c the professor was right there in the gutter with me. :-D
We got into this b/c we had to read an essay last night about how male models have become 'eye-candy' that has traditionally been feminine. [Side note: Great essay, totally recommend it.] In it, there was discussion about the male body, of course, and the subject of Michelangelo's David came up. All I could think about in that context was Professor Kelley going on about how erotic his hands were. So of course I had to find a closeup shot of his hand.
(God, when did I turn into such a perv? Totally your fault Ariel!)
ETA: I tried to put in a picture of his hand just for you to oogle, but I can't figure out how to post pictures! I'm so pathetic! Help?!
