Paid to play with puppets

I don't think I mentioned that I didn't go in to work at all yesterday... I was going to go in in the afternoon, but they told me to stay home and get better... aww. My throat still hurt pretty badly this morning, so I didn't go in to work until 10am. I've now developed the occasional cough (that I can catch with my hand so I don't spread it), and hopefully that means I get to skip the sneezing and runny nose stage, since the cough usually comes last in the progression of symptoms. When I was sick a couple weeks ago, I never got a cough, but I would rather have a cough than a runny nose. If only we could pick and choose our symptoms if we can't do away with them entirely. It amazes me how many variations of colds and flus there are... one day I will have caught ALL of them and then I will be immune, muahahah. Yeah, right.

Some Advil helped with the sore throat today, and other than that I just felt a bit achy and sleepy all day. But we had a fun day... we played the improv game "props", used puppets, and played nature board games at the end of the day. I think I like this job! Plus, we did a lot of the sessions outside in the sunshine. We also got our summer workplans; I get to make signage for the rattlesnake habitat in the coulees (as well as doing talks in the park about them), do photography, take care of the pet crow and salamanders, and help with the Dragon Boat Festival, among other things. My work for the next four months is literally cut out for me! In addition to this, I'll be doing lots of nature walks and school programs on things like baby animals. Oh, and the pet crow is so cute... in the mornings before the centre is open to visitors, she gets to be out of her cage and walks around, cawing or saying, "Hello, hello!" in this really nasally voice.

It's kind of cool being right by the High Level Bridge all day. For those of you who don't know, it's the longest and highest of its kind, at 1.6km long and 96m high. Today they were doing some construction on it.

I was kind of disappointed that no one commented on my baby/tattoo/weekend post, but I realize now that I just didn't get the comments in my email! I'm also not getting Facebook message notifications either. Internet, you fail me!

work, nc, sick
