There was a fire alarm at the university today... haven't had one of those since high school, where everyone has to get out. Our enthusiasm for the evacuation was lacking; suffice to say that if there was a real fire, we'd all be grilled manwiches by now.

Unfortunately this was at the beginning of a three hour class, so that wasn't an option! :p

No, the alarm actually went off for real, but it was like a drill because no one believed there was a fire, and there wasn't... it was a malfunction in the end, I think. :p

There was a fire in the mall a few years back (just a small garbage can fire, but no one was sure at first) It was the biggest gong show ever. Much like the university, we all would have died. Yet the mall is so certain of it's mad evacuation skillz that they sent out a memo awhile ago telling us how they were prepared should there be a terrorist attack! ROFL

The prof actually kept talking over the alarm for a minute, and then said we should wait a few to see if it turned off... hahah! Once it didn't turn off, I suppose we were orderly in getting out, but certainly weren't in any rush.

Imagining a mall fire evacuation is interesting to me. I suppose you'd have to kick everyone out and close the sliding doors, or there would be theft, eh? What is the policy?
