there doesn't appear to be a guide book to torontos farmers markets. how can that be? there are so many and the majority of them are so well-established.
i woke up with the thought in my head that i would like to write a guide for torontos farmers markets, because theres so many people who have siad "i would like to go to a market but i cant find one" and they are usually surprised when i start to name the ones that we have been to or know about - they are surprised that there is a market in their neighbourhood that they have no idea existed. its a case of people wanting to shop in markets but not knowing that it really is an option for them, because some of the markets are kinda hard to find even if they are within walking distance from your house. and also, a certain laziness about actually making the switch from the grocery store to a market.
can you imagine how big and damn-near impossible a task that would be? but how much fun as well? i am afraid to realistically consider the idea of writing a guide because im pretty certain it would never get completed. the idea of even beginning to write about the st. Lawrence market which takes an entire street block and has its own two-level building housing dozens if not hundreds of vendors inside and out, for instance, is terrifying.
