A lovely piece, capturing the poignant moments -- beats of time -- in the aftermath for these characters, each of whom is captured simply and truly.

I'm so very late with my reply and I'm sorry for that.

Thank you for reading. Facing the rest of their lives must have been more difficult than they could possibly imagine.

This was a wonderful picture of the exhausted, grieving survivors of the battle of Hogwarts. My favorite part was the search for Daphne. The anguish of her father, his frustration with McGonagall and her strain talking to someone who was frightened and didn't understand was all very real ( ... )

I'm so very late with my reply and I'm sorry for that. Thank you very much for reading.

I loved the scenes in the dungeon, because they were so concrete logical and real.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed this particular section of the story. I felt like I had to build up to this with characters living a moment of solitude before pushing them together for one last time. Not only the characters mourn friends/family, but they are also shedding their own perspectives on how one goes through life in the aftermath of this war. The last scenes, I hoped, convey that belonging might be a part of the answer.

Again, thank you for such a thoughtful comment.

Mystery author, I just wanted to let you know I've seen this and I'm very excited to read it! I'm all bouncy now to see that you've included all my characters - you are a darling! *squishes you*

I'm in class now so I can't give it the whole-hearted attention it deserves, but I promise I'll be back soon to properly appreciate this and review, too.

Okay, I'm back! And I'm going to try my best to give you a coherent and worthy review, but forgive me if I get flail-y or capslock-y or have way too many italics because THIS! THIS STORY! ♥♥♥

So - things I loved, not in any particular order:

You got in all my characters!!! As I mentioned after seeing the story header I was thrilled already before reading. I know I probably didn't give the easiest prompts and request to write and I was kinda feeling bad for my poor writer but WOW YOU'RE AWESOME for pulling this off so wonderfully!

The characterisation, oh, the characterisation. I'm wondering if you wandered into my brain and picked out all my thoughts on these characters because you wrote them just the way I love to read them. Each section for each character had lines I just had to nod, YES YES YES to:

- Instead, Ginny had moved away hastily. -- I so see this, Ginny's aversion to pity and sympathy and all other well-meaning people. The comments on grief being something private fit her perfectly. The confusion, numbness, the daze ( ... )

And now that I know who you are ... my darling Red, how lucky I was to draw you! And I'm sorry my prompts gave you so much trouble.

(Thank attilatehbun, too, because I know she definitely had a hand in this, whether beta-ing or being one half of Itchy and Scratchy.)

*squishes you*

This was so beautiful. I was touched by every vignette, but I think my favorite was Neville, Luna, Ron, and Ginny in the dungeon. Ron's actions towards Luna show how much he has matured. I also really identified with Professor McGonagall's struggle of whether or not to come back. Sometimes it's easier to leave the mess to someone else, but she is a true Gryffindor who will continue to fight through the aftermath. Great job!

Thank you for reading. I'm extremely late in replying, but I wanted to thank you for your kind words.

Pr.McGonagall is such a terrific character, and I'm very pleased that her struggles felt real.
