Title: The Lesser Evil Author: lazy_neutrino Recipient's name: sionnain Rating: PG-13 Character(s): Regulus Author's Notes: thanks to snorkackcatcher and winding_path for the beta! The quote at the start is T.S. Eliot.
Oh, wow. There was so much good in this fic. Regulus is such a fascinating character, isn't he? So much of what he does is determined by Sirius, whether Regulus wants that--or even realizes it--or not, and you showed that really well without overwhelming. I really liked the "He wonders what Sirius would say." near the beginning of the fic, and then the ending line. I also liked the juxtaposition of the "It is like looking into the heart of the sun." when he first encounters Voldemort, and then the "Obliviate,' he whispers as the sun streams in" after he first defies him

Ooh. Nice touch with the Obliviate, and this bit is just incredibly sad:
He has dreamed of being a hero, but there are no more heroes. His rôle has turned out to be a walk-on part. In the last moments of his life he looks for something to say and finds that he has no lines.
This entire piece is just poetic and beautiful and so, so heartbreaking. I love the language, the way you describe Regulus, and the little simple details of the story that really make it stand out in my mind. Bella's robes being of the color of blood, Narcissa in sea-blue...very evocative.
This is so rich and delicious and just a touch bitter, like dark chocolate. (Which, incidentally, is my favorite.) I'm so pleased this story is for me!!
This part:He has dreamed of being a hero, but there are no more heroes. His rôle has turned out to be a walk-on part. In the last moments of his life he looks for something to say and finds that he has no lines.
Aieee! So bittersweet and yet, really, how true.
The part with Obliviate made me suck in a breath and gasp. Loved it. Loved the end, especially, with the description of Voldemort breaking inside Regulus' mind.
Loved all of it!! Thank you so, so much for this!!
