The #2 Republican

Aug 29, 2008 16:44

I said repeatedly that, based on experience, neither Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton have the credentials to be an easy fit for the White House.  Of course, I say that as a conservative non-Democrat.

So this Republican Veep nominee, she'll at least make the next couple months of the political process less boring.  Because, what with that ridiculously early start to the campaign season, boredom has been my prevailing mood.

Unquestionably THE most inexperienced Veep candidate since Dan Quayle.  I'm sure she'll be coached on the modern spelling of potato.

But executive experience?  Well, everyone else on both tickets are career legislators, not executives.  The last two presidents (that's 16 years worth) have been former governors.  Since 1976, only one president has run as a senator, all the rest have been governors.  So at least there's a governor on the ticket now.  Only been governor for 20 months, but it's got to count for SOMEthing, right?

Location, location, location.  With all the oil talk, little ol' Alaska (i'm talking population, not over-twice-the-size-of-Texas land mass) ought to be able to send someone up with clearer insight than all those DC'ers on dealing with energy properly.  Also, have you noticed how close to Russia that state is?  I see potential for having a LOT of insight on those wacky Reds!  (Oh, that's right, they're not technically  Communist again yet, are they?)

She's given birth FIVE, count them, FIVE times.  A career mom with 5 kids?  Well, at least we know she's familiar with stress.

And she was a journalism major.  Yep, she's been a sports newscaster.  So dealing with the media?  She's got it in the bag!

This whole thing's gonna be ... interesting.  Entertaining, even, at least until the election's over.
