for 65 dollars for 6 weeks - I signed up Moses and we started yesterday. One hour sessions. Moses is our golden retriever puppy that is approx 20 weeks old now. We got him at 5 weeks old. He has gotten so HUGE. I have a hard time being the boss with him. He is just a baby and thinks he is a little puppy.
He has never been on a leash, so that was our first problem/adventure. He wouldn't budge. Luke, our other golden (6 1/2 years old) knows what a leash means and was going crazy and not helping any. I had to lock him and the little ones in my bedroom until I could get Moses outside and into my car. Which took quite a while! I finally had to pick him up and he is soooo heavy. I struggled a lot getting him into the car.
I then came back in the house to let the other dogs out of the bedroom and they were going nuts as they knew someting was going on. I got my purse and finally got out the door.
Moses did well on the drive to the training center. Then I have to coax him out of the car. Took a good while. He then wouldn't walk. There was a cart nearby so I dragged him to the cart. Tried picking him up and putting in the cart. NOT EASY! I got the first part in and his back paw got caught between the wires in the cart. So I had to hold this heavy puppy up as I released his paw. (without breaking it) FINALLY got him in the cart and wheeled him into the building. Almost killed him again trying to get him out of the cart but asked a man to please help me as he was tangled in my purse strap and leash.
There were a lot of puppies there for puppy kindergarten. So tiny some of them. Moses was the oldest one and the biggest. The trainer said he was big for 4 months and was going to be a huge dog.
The class gets started and my puppy says no.. I just want to play with the other puppies. And he refuses to walk on the leash. The trainer took him over after getting a better collar for him he couldn't wiggle out of. I bought the collar.
When we left.... he walked out with me!!! On the leash!!! But I still had to pick him up to put him in the car. Maybe there is hope for us yet with this new addition to our family. He is very smart but very stubborn but very young yet.
Today, I can barely lift anything. My arms and shoulders hurt and I am exhausted.
The class after ours had older dogs and I was so amazed at their level of obedience while waiting for our class to end.
Other news.. my new little grandbaby has thrush. Poor little guy. It was caught early and he has medicine for his little mouth. He is soooo adorable.
Work... is work.
This is July and this month and next month is still hard for me even after 8 years... it will be 8 years in August that my son was killed. He is still on my mind everyday. Hard to believe it has been that long since I saw his smile or heard his voice.
